Damon was a profound story teller. He was the best your guide that I have ever experienced. He had not only done research, but wrote books on the history. As a professor, I would love to be one of his students. He was a wealth of knowledge and kept us captivated. I highly recommend this tour.

Damon is an engaging story teller, with an interesting perspective. We enjoyed hearing about African American contributions to Charleston in particular, and their influence on US culture in general. Easy walk with lots of stops.

He told us stories you normally don’t hear about Charleston’s African-American residents from the beginning of slavery through Reconstruction and Jim Crow. He brought the stories to life. Some of it was uncomfortable to hear but all of it was enlightening. My friend and I would highly recommend this two hour walking tour.
