Ketchikan Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

We had beautiful weather and saw whales and seals! Theodore and Captain Morgan were so knowledgeable and kind and made the experience even better!

Absolutely the best whale watching outfit in Alaska. We saw a pod of Orcas. The boat is extremely comfortable and fast. Why fast matters, the whales were spotted on the south side and we were far north.

We had the captain /owner Jonah take us out and saw both humpback whales and some harbor seals. I learned what whale breath smells like. The lunch was a sandwich and chips which was OK, but honestly you’re not there for the food. The trip was safe and educational. Highly recommended.

Fabulous trip. Henry and Adam very enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides with help of Trevin who also captained the boat. So exciting to walk where the bears could appear at any moment. Saw lots of black bears feeding and catching salmon. Plus a cub sleeping up a tree. Plenty of seals, bald eagles and deer too. Absolutely magical experience. Definitely recommend this trip.

Charlotte was geeky and goofy and passionate and magnificent. Adam was great too! I’m just sad, because I thought I could send a tip with the QR code they provided. They really deserved it. Great bunch of people and the encounter was incredible.

We got off the boat and I was already frustrated with the weather. I thought oh well this is going to be a waste of money due to the rain and cold. I know who expects rain and cold in Alaska lol, but we are from Florida and it was 95 when we left. We met the driver Teddy who was upbeat and energetic. I made a comment something along the lines of well this should be fun, referring to the rain. Teddy laughed and told us that it rains like 260 days a year in Ketchikan and that it was actually a rainforest. This peaked my interest as I love facts and information. For the next 2 hours ish we drove around Teddy was full of wonderful information about the city, how it started, wildlife, the purchase of Alaska, the totem poles and so much more. He tooks us to various locations that allowed us to see bears, the Salmon run, hatcheries, eagles and honestly it felt like it was led by a family friend instead of a tour guide. Teddy was a blast, so funny, knowledgeable, energetic and that spread to everyone, even this grumpy old guy. I had a absolute blast on this tour and my reluctance faded very quickly. I was amazed at how accommodating the locals are to the tour guide buses. Teddy said the whole town is based on tourism now, and it shows. When Teddy would pull over or stop to show us something, the locals never beeped or yelled, they waited patiently for us and everyone was so friendly. I can not recommend this tour guide enough, the experience for the money is an amazing value. We can not wait to go back again, this will be at the top of our list to experience again.

We had a wonderful time on the Ketchikan Kayak Eco-Tour! The scenery was beautiful, the kayaking was fun and relaxing, and it was a great way to experience Alaska from the water. Everything was well organized, and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel comfortable throughout the tour. It was a great experience for our whole family and definitely one of the highlights of our time in Ketchikan. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic experience with Eagle One and absolutely loved the tour! Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Everything was well organized, and we would definitely recommend Eagle One to anyone looking for a memorable tour.

Family friendly show is entertaining; the lumberjacks were definitely talented. That said, the star of the show was the crab feast... perfectly cooked, beverages included, all you can eat crab... what more can you ask for. Would definitely recommend (and for sure repeat on my next trip to Ketchikan)!

Our guide Jonny was great! Very knowledgeable and passionate about his home and the nature living there. He made sure to educate us on anything he found or answer any questions we had. We went to the beach that felt off the normal tourist stops (we were the only ones there) and we had enough time at each spot to enjoy the sites and the wildlife

The zodiac was a really smooth ride despite the waves. The scenery was beautiful and we saw a lot of harbor seals of blank island. Unfortunately didn’t get to see more marine life but was still worth the experience.Our guide, Austin, was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was genuinely cool.

This was the perfect night. Great spot and wonderful food!!

We booked this excursion in Ketchikan because it seemed to offer the best value for money and was exactly what we were looking for—and it did not disappoint!We had a beautiful, unseasonably warm day for our kayaking experience on Saturday, September 5. After disembarking from the Disney Wonder, a small bus picked our group of seven up and took us to Ward Cove, where we transferred to a RIB for the trip to the Tatoosh Islands.Our guide, Liam, was outstanding. Before setting out in our kayaks, he asked about everyone's experience level and went over safety procedures and familiarization with the kayaks. He was engaging, knowledgeable and very informative about the area, sharing lots of interesting facts along the way. We kayaked around the islands for approximately two hours in wonderfully calm water.This was definitely one of the highlights of our cruise. I highly recommend this excursion!

Up to 4 people can travel in the same Zodiac. Be sure you have at least 1 person willing to drive! You will be given waterproof bibs, boots and gloves to wear.

We absolutely loved every second of our time on the water with Ketchikan Kayak Company! Anya was an amazing guide; knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience so much fun.We were lucky enough to see humpback whales, sea lions, bald eagles, and harbor seals, and being out on the water surrounded by all that wildlife was truly incredible. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Ketchikan and an experience we won’t forget.I would highly recommend Ketchikan Kayak Company to anyone visiting Ketchikan. And as if the amazing experience wasn’t enough, they had delicious snacks waiting for us at the end!Five stars all around!

Great location with amazing views. Team are great at explaining the food and cooking - and the meal is well prepared and plentiful.
