Great Smoky Mountains National Park in the southeastern U.S. encompasses the Great Smoky Mountains, part of the Blue Ridge Mountains which are in turn part of the Appalachian Mountain Chain stretching from southeastern Canada to Central Alabama. The ridge of the Smokys forms the border between North Carolina and Tennessee and the park extends into both states. Park attractions include scenic roads and hiking trails, waterfalls and wildlife, fall foliage and spring wildflowers, historic log structures, cemeteries, and other remnants from pioneer days. Many small mountain towns nearby offer lodging and entertainment including regional cuisine and music, breweries, and amusement parks.
