Newark New Jersey, settled in 1666 by Puritans from New Haven Colony, is the third-oldest city in the U.S. The harbor in Newark Bay is the busiest seaport on the U.S. East Coast and a major cruise ship port. Newark Liberty International Airport was America’s first municipal commercial airport, and the city is also a rail and road transportation hub.
