Top Pico Private Sightseeing Tours

Jose was an amazing, knowledgeable, wonderful guide. My friend and I had an 8-day visit to Azores, with Pico island being the second island we visited, but for less than 2 days. Jose tailored the itinerary to that time and we were able to see so much even with the limited time. The highlight was him explaining the growing and harvesting of the grapes in the UNESCO wineries, one of which is his. Although we don't drink, we were fascinated by the entire process and how unique it is on the islands. Additionally, we needed to ensure we had places to eat dinner and get around and he was gracious enough to arrange for restaurant reservations, as well as provide transportation services. Lastly, he shared with us his homemade jams - which are amazing! We will never forget our time with Jose, especially the memories we created and the conversations we had. Highly, highly recommend!

Kevin was a really lovely knowledgeable guide, and happy to tailor the trip to our interests. He provided a great picnic lunch of local cheeses and wine with homegrown tomatoes and homemade chocolate mousse - exceptional. A terrific day out.

What a wonderful tour of Pico! Even though our hotel was almost an hour away from the starting point, for a little extra money, Kevin picked us up in Madalena and the fun began! When they say you can experience all four seasons in one day, we sure did! But that didn’t deter Kevin one bit. He made sure we saw everything we wanted to, and should see on the island! We even went back to a few places to make sure we saw them when the clouds cleared. The entire day was perfectly paced, enjoyable (despite having to dry out from a heavy rain) and incredibly informative. Kevin knew the island so well and was able to answer all our questions. He also has a great sense of humor and was the perfect guide for us!Lunch was delicious, and mostly homegrown. The tomatoes were quite tasty!Private tours may cost a little extra, but they are well worth it! You see so much more and get to know your guide and the local culture so much better. Thanks, Kevin for an unforgettable day!

Remarkable guidance and explanations (volcanism, fauna, flora, etc.), delicious picnic. Kevin helped us discover sites, paths, and viewpoints that we would not have reached on our own. He is a very attentive guide; he equipped us with helmets to visit a cave (lava tunnel): unique!

Polyglot and very attentive, Kevin is an excellent guide, very knowledgeable about volcanism, fauna, flora, etc. He helped us discover paths, sites, and viewpoints that we would never have reached on our own and shared his enthusiasm for this very unique island of Pico. We spent some rich moments.

Kevin was great!! He is exactly what you hope a tour guide would be!! He worked hard to give us the best experience we could have and is super knowledgeable! We enjoyed our time with this tour very much.

We had the lucky experience of joining Jose for a 1/2 day Pico wine tour. Jose communicated with us ahead of time and accommodated us when our flight to the island was delayed. Jose is a fantastic guide- he clearly adores his island and shared his deep knowledge and love with us. He showed us his own vineyard in the UNESCO region, helping us understand the history and very unique qualities that go into Pico wines. We had a lovely tasting at a Madalena wine shop. Jose is a gem- his stories and knowledge are broad and he brings great joy to a visit in Pico. We met in Faial a few days later and had a sweet reunion. We feel like we have a friend in Pico

From the start, he took the time to understand our wine preferences and thoughtfully selected local wineries that were a perfect match for our tastes. Along the way, he also introduced us to a wonderful local spot for lunch with beautiful views, making the day feel even more special. What really set Kevin apart was his incredible knowledge of both Pico's history and its unique wine culture. He made sure we visited the island's historic wine sites and brought them to life with fascinating stories and insights. His passion for the island and its winemaking heritage was contagious.Beyond being exceptionally knowledgeable, Kevin is kind, funny, and genuinely invested in making sure his guests have the best possible experience. He was generous with his time, never rushed us, and made the entire day feel relaxed, personal, and memorable. The three of us had such a fantastic time, and by the end of the tour it felt like we'd spent the day with a friend. We couldn't recommend Kevin more highly. If you're looking for a personalized, fun, and unforgettable experience in Pico, he's the guide you want!

Filipe gave a good tour that showed the culture and pride of the people. Everywhere he took us we were treats as special guests, indicating the quality of his relationship with all!Ask him how is boat project is going. Hopefully he jumped in and bought the project of his boating dreams!

Fantastic personalized tour to introduce us to Pico. Filipe was the perfect guide, taking us through the vineyards, to the natural pools along the coast, to a fantastic lunch of Pico’s finest including cheeses, breads, lapas (in season), octopus, tuna and beef, and of course the wine tasting! Filipe was extremely knowledgeable of the geography, history and flora and was flexible and accommodating to our needs (after a crazy flight in!) Highly recommend!

Kevin is a friendly guide. Rich, lively, and very interesting tour. Kevin is professional and very attentive, which allows him to build a custom tour combining iconic places on the island and other discoveries. We highly recommend. Thank you for this beautiful day!

My husband and I had a great day getting to know Pico Island better with Kevin! No doubt, this is a full day, but we saw so much of the island and learned many new things along the way. This was the first time the two of us have done an entirely private tour, and Kevin is so personable and easy to get along with, so this was a great way to do it. He has multiple options to taylor the day to your interests and the weather, which is great as well. We even nerded out over rocks :).We also very much enjoyed his delicious homemade picnic lunch with a view of the ocean, featuring local Azores cheeses, of course. What a treat! From the coast, to the mountain lakes, to the lava cave (helmets and headlamps provided!), to the vineyards, we enjoyed the whole day. Don't hesitate to join Kevin on any of his tours!

We had a lovely day exploring the island of Pico with Jose. He is very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the wine history, whaling history and the culture of Pico.

Kevin was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Azores and wine growing in the region. We absolutely loved our tour of the vineyards of Pico with him and learned so much along the way. We started with first some walking through the area for a couple of hours and then moved on to a wonderful wine tasting in a garden outside. Everything was perfect and it was so helpful to have such a helpful guide so we could make the most of the experience. Kevin is a lovely personality and easy to talk to while keeping professional. He does a great job of customizing the experience to appeal to your presences as well. Thank you so much Kevin!!!

Great introduction to the turbulent birth of Pico Island and the key features of the landscape. The full day tour took in uplands and coasts, key viewpoints and subterranean caverns and touched as well on the unique aspects of plant and wild life on the island. Our guide Kevin was well versed on the geology but also tailored his input to the interests of the group. He was also a dab hand at turning out an up-market picnic lunch.

Kevin met us at the ferry and spent the entire afternoon on a custom tour for the 4 of us of the wine culture of Pico, including stops at multiple sites and 2 wineries where he had arranged tastings. He is thoughtful and well informed, and went out of his way to answer our questions both during and after the tour. We learned a lot about the history of winemaking on Pico, as well as the current situation. At the end he dropped us at our hotel, and followed up later to provide suggestions for things to do on our second day on our own.
