Pico Travel Guides (Updated October 2026)

The day we were scheduled to go whale watching was a windy day with fairly big waves. I was a bit nervous about going out, not sure I would enjoy it given the conditions. But, out we went. We were given rain gear to stay dry and honestly we didn’t even get that wet. The boat and skilled captain handled the waves beautifully. I was never uncomfortable. I don’t know how they do it, but they found sperm whales and huge pods of dolphins for us to see. That was especially impressive given the waves. The dolphins were so cute playing in the waves. There were tons of babies which were very fun to watch. This company is very accommodating and professional and I highly recommend them.

What a brilliant day! We learnt about the culture and history of Pico during quick informal stops, had tine for a quick swim to cool off and then had a superb lunch of local delicacies. Best part was the wine tasting where we were served by the winemaker himself! Thank you Silvia for a wonderful introduction to Pico and the Azores! Would do it again in a 💓

Hard mountain to climb - great guide.

The whale watch was incredibly well run. The team was knowledgeable and made sure we had a wonderful experience. We saw multiple whales and dolphins making the trip truly amazing! Thank you to the team for the white glove treatment.

The sunrise tour on Pico with GoClimbPico was an unforgettable experience! Raisa as a guide was totally motivating & funny and ensured a good group dynamic, and guided us super through the quite steep ascent (and descent). Hiking at night with headlamps under the clearest starry sky was already a great experience in itself, but reaching the summit shortly before sunrise and "waiting" for the sun with coffee and chocolate from Raisa was magnificent! We were totally lucky with the weather conditions, and small clouds only moved in during the descent, so we had a magnificent view and every phase of the sunrise was simply magical. Would do it again anytime and can 100% recommend the tour via GoClimbPico. A certain level of basic fitness should be present. On our tour in September, several warm layers of clothing, at least one of them windproof, and a hood/headband/beanie as well as thin gloves were very useful.

Fantastic experience. Philip makes you feel at ease right away. After a full day of seeing, learning and tasting, I can only recommend this tour!If you go in september, you get to taste the grapes of the vineyards (if you’re lucky with the harvest season) and local fruits that grow all over the island.Best price/value guide we have on the Azores if not ever.

Jose was an amazing, knowledgeable, wonderful guide. My friend and I had an 8-day visit to Azores, with Pico island being the second island we visited, but for less than 2 days. Jose tailored the itinerary to that time and we were able to see so much even with the limited time. The highlight was him explaining the growing and harvesting of the grapes in the UNESCO wineries, one of which is his. Although we don't drink, we were fascinated by the entire process and how unique it is on the islands. Additionally, we needed to ensure we had places to eat dinner and get around and he was gracious enough to arrange for restaurant reservations, as well as provide transportation services. Lastly, he shared with us his homemade jams - which are amazing! We will never forget our time with Jose, especially the memories we created and the conversations we had. Highly, highly recommend!

The tour is such a treasure and Silvia was an excellent guide! She had a rich knowledge of the island and a clear passion for its distinctive history and culture. She is also just a very friendly person.I feel we came away with a better understanding of the island and more context for our experiences. We also got some excellent recommendations (food, Poços, and tours) for the rest of our journey!Thank you, Silvia and Natascha!

Kevin was a really lovely knowledgeable guide, and happy to tailor the trip to our interests. He provided a great picnic lunch of local cheeses and wine with homegrown tomatoes and homemade chocolate mousse - exceptional. A terrific day out.

Amateur friendly, not to expensive, the guide take her/his time to explain the mountain as you climb it

Filipe was an incredible guide for our tour around Pico. We flew over from Ponta Delgado for the day so that we could experience the relatively untouched island. We met Filipe at the marina terminal. He was very knowledgeable and great to talk to on the ride from place to place. The lunch was an authentic sample of Azorian dishes and it was delicious. Because of this experience we plan on returning to Pico to relax for a few days in the future. Highly recommend this tour.

An amazing tour with some amazing views. Make sure to wear sneakers because you explore some caves. You take a break overlooking the ocean with delicious cheese and one of the best homemade jams I’ve ever had. Would highly recommend!
