York Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

It was a great experience and Dalton was amazing. He kept everyone engaged throughout the 90 minutes and the told us some of the most fun ghost stories. Would highly recommend.

Mad Alice was really interesting and passionate about her explanations. She took the time to talk to each of us during the tour, she is a lovely person! The tour is well organised, you can see a lot of York. I 100% recommend 😊

Really good fun, an informative and funny host and a selection of excellent rums! A very entertaining way to spend an hour, highly recommended.

I had an amazing time on this tour, Celeste was our guide and she was so knowledgable and friendly. Will definitely check out the tour in Edinburgh.

The tour was amazing. John, our guide, was fantastic! We traveled through space and time as we stopped at quaint, amazing looking villages. Bolton Castle was a hit.

Dante was absolutely brilliant! My partner and I had such a great experience and enjoyed every second of the tour. The spooky stories mixed with the dark humour was fantastic. I definitely jumped out of my skin a few times, ahah!I honestly can’t recommend this tour enough, especially if you’re lucky enough to get Dante as your guide. He made the whole experience even better!

She was very entertaining and also provided great information about historical and haunting facts about York

We booked the evening Bus tour and wasn't disappointed. Phil our guide was very entertaining. We were taken on a walk to The Shambles and he told us about the history of the road and then walked to a place where people would have their heads chopped off! Phil then told us a story if what was once a hotel across the road and where ghosts have been seen and to take photos of which most if us did. We then got back on the bus to finish the tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not until the next day when I was going through my photos, that the one I took of the 'hotel' Phil was in front of me and looks very strange, either he is a ghost or there was a ghost in front of him, half his arms are missing! It could be a trick of the light but who knows, Spooky 👻 What do you think?

A must see if ever in York. Scary, funny and informative. The actors are all brilliant. It took a while to get the heart rate back to normal !!!

Very good, well worth going, extremely fun.

Fantastic trip - the guide was so knowledgable - beautiful scenery

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. John Doe - the conductor and Bob the driver throw so much enthusiasm and humour into making the trip a great experience. We heard some great stories about York - the Dick Turpin story was particularly interesting. There was a stop and a walk around the Shambles - with more fun ghost stories. The opportunity to ride on the top deck of an old Route master bus was worth the fare alone ! The tour starts bang smack outside the railway station, so it's easy to find. Well worth the trip, highly recommended 👍🏻

It’s a relaxing 45 minute trip. You probably don’t get anything that a walk along the river wouldn’t give you. Having said that the staff were helpful and friendly, the onboard bar was reasonably priced and it was a good experience to relax with a beer while the world goes by.

Lots of ghost options in York. This one fulfilled our expectations. Witty and with interesting history. Busy and dark streets so you need to be able to keep up to a brisk walking pace.

Wow! Was dreading this a bit due to a back issue and wasn’t sure if my back would cope with the movement. How wrong was I , Nicky our bus driver drove the bus with such care, she was polite, friendly and humorous. Steve the tour guide was so knowledgeable, funny and made our time on the bus unforgettable. I can’t recommend them and the company enough. You can also download an app to see when the next bus is due for your hop on, hop off experience, a fab way to tour York.

A fun option for everyone. Lots of interesting information and our instructor was very good. We both brought our chocolate bar home with us!
