This was a very welcome retirement gift from my work colleagues, as it has been a bucket list event for a long time. Our experience was quite frustrating at first with two previous bookings cancelled due to poor wind conditions. As these events are very much reliant on weather conditions, the company are certainly not at fault for these cancellations. However, the wait was certainly worth it. We felt the whole experience was very well organised, where we had the confidence in the balloon team, to make it a very safe and enjoyable experience. From start to finish, this memory will stay with us forever. This is a small family run business, who pride themselves in giving their customers the very best experience. If it is something you are considering doing, we recommend you do it. You will not be disappointed!

We had the best time on this tour! Ben showed us some amazing places and the most delicious food! Ben was a great tour guide and this was probably one of our favorite tours this trip!!

A great way to learn about the food scene in York. We love to book tours like this early in our stay in a city, so we can learn about restaurants we want to go back to. Kay, our guide, made this such a fun activity - took us to amazing small restaurants (and a bustleing food market/court. She gave us history of the city and the food venues themselves - a variety of cuisines. Kay was attentive to everyone in the group and took care in helping a member of the tour with food sensitivities.

A consideration for where to spend our week’s holiday was ‘Does Stephen do a walking tour near there’? We chose York, as neither of us have been there and knew that Stephen could magically bring history alive for us. Stephen’s knowledge and understanding of history is incredible, he doesn’t just quote facts, he explains and justifies them and often extends it with further linked examples. A random comment by either of us was picked up and immediately explored, if Stephen doesn’t know the answer he is willing to give his learned opinion based on his wide knowledge.We walked for three hours, at a pleasant strolling speed, with plenty of time to look around and gain extra information as Stephen pointed out things that were a new discovery for him too. For example, who was Mad Alice? Mad Alice snickleway is in Swinegate, a narrow alley…. or why Emperor Constantine’s sword is broken.We stopped at a number of the many historical areas and walked past others and learnt about their significance to Roman, Viking and Henry VIII’s dissolution and looting of the churches and abbeys. Highlights included Micklegate Bar, the Shambles, the Golden Fleece pub with its five ghosts, the York Minster and unbelievable crypt, the house where Guy Fawkes was born, Emperor Constantine’s memorial, Clifford’s Tower, Holy Trinity Church, Church of St Martin Le Grand, the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, Kings Manor, the Shrine of St Margaret Clitherow, Fossgate Guildhall. Stephen also let us know about walking along the city walls and where to find the grave of Dick Turpin so we could continue our walking tour independently.Walking with Stephen is a glorious mix of history, contemporary and links in between. He picks up on our interests and tailors the walk to include topics that he knows we enjoy. He is very friendly, chatty and personable and his enjoyment of sharing is infectious and we find ourselves looking further into things he has told us when we get home. I wish my history teacher at school had been like Stephen!This was our third walking tour with Stephen, and we’re already discussing where next?

We had a delightful experience on this food tour! We experienced it as tourists, but it would also be a great experience as a local. There were a wide variety of foods from many different ethnicities that we tried, and they were all very tasty. Nikki was our tour guide and she was wonderful to work with-- very personable and knowledgeable about all of the stops we went to. This was a great way to spend our afternoon in York and we highly recommend taking this tour!

We were able to try food and drinks from four local restaurants, representing foods from around the world, which is consistent with the international food scene in York. Each dish was delicious and we were very full - of food and information about York and British food traditions.

Excellent detailed and very enjoyable explanation. It's great that it was possible in Spanish. Totally recommended. Our guide helped us a lot in finding our way around and recommending more places.

This is the perfect way to experience the Yorkshire Dales if you have limited time. Three of us spent a pleasant half day in two Dales. Chris was a wonderful host giving us a gentle commentary, answering our questions with humour and consideration.we would highly recommend.

The photo walk around York with Paula was a fantastic experience. We spent the morning exploring the city, with Paula pointing out lots of interesting opportunities for photos, explaining the best techniques to use for each shot, and providing loads of background information about the areas we were visiting. I loved it and can't wait to go back to experience one of the other walks she conducts. Highest recommendation for anyone interested in photography and who wants to explore this incredibly beautiful city.

We had an absolutely fantastic walking tour of York and our guide Richard made it truly unforgettable. From the moment we started it was clear we were in great hands. Richard is incredibly knowledgeable and has a natural charm that makes every story come to life. He expertly covered a wide range of topics and historical sites giving us a deep appreciation for the city and setting us up perfectly for the rest of our visit.One of the things we appreciated most was how attuned Richard was to our interests. He tailored parts of the tour to what fascinated us most and offered excellent recommendations for places to eat and other things to explore in York. No matter what we asked, Richard had a thoughtful and informative answer—and he always made us feel comfortable asking.If you’re lucky enough to have Richard as your guide, you’re in for a fantastic time. His passion for York is infectious, and he goes above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Highly recommend!

We had the absolute best time imaginable on our private half-day tour of the North York Moors with Best of Britain. We came to Yorkshire specifically to see the moody and windy Moors, and the tour did not disappoint. Our guide Alan’s passion about the history and the geography of the region illuminated the entire day, and part of the joy is seeing how special the park and surrounding towns are to the local community and families. I also didn’t realize just how vast and desolate the park is, so going with an experienced guide is a must for first-timers. The private experience was also great because they customize the itinerary based on your interests - we spent most of our time in the Moors and in Byland Abbey, which was spectacular, with a quicker stop in Whitby. 10/10 recommend and would book again!
