Top Ketchikan Cooking Classes

This is an experience I won't soon forget. It was wonderful. I have Celiac disease and the kitchen accommodated my gluten free needs beautifully. The kitchen is spotless, well organized, and the timing was perfect. The recipes are delicious and I cannot wait to try them. Well done!

We gad a great time. The hands on cooking was amazing and the knowledge of the cooks was awesome. I would recommend this to anybody who loves to cook.

We had a wonderful time at The Local Table cooking class. It was right next to where our ship docked and very easy to find. Emily and Danielle were super friendly and knowledgeable. They made the cooking class fun! We had three different salmon dishes and all three were so delicious! I recommend this cooking class to everyone looking for a unique shore excursion who loves delicious food!

Jennie and I had an absolutely wonderful experience at The Local Table in Ketchikan. Emily and Danielle, the proprietors and instructors, were amazing from the moment we walked through the door.This wasn't just a cooking class—it felt like we had been invited into their home to help prepare a family meal.Emily and Danielle shared their own family recipes with us and taught us step-by-step how to prepare them. They were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, patient, and welcoming. What made the experience even more special was knowing that the fresh Alaskan salmon we prepared had actually been caught by Emily's father. It doesn't get much more authentic than that!The food was absolutely delicious, and we learned techniques and recipes that we'll be able to take home and enjoy again.The space itself is beautiful. Their storefront and cooking area are thoughtfully decorated, warm, inviting, and spotless. Everything about it feels personal rather than commercial.We originally booked this excursion through our travel agent rather than through the cruise ship. For some reason, the ship canceled its tour that day, which meant Jennie and I ended up being the only guests in the class. What could have been a disappointment turned into an incredible private experience with Emily and Danielle!If you're stopping in Ketchikan, don't overlook this experience. Instead of simply seeing Alaska, we got to spend time with local people, learn their family recipes, prepare locally caught salmon together, share a wonderful meal, and experience a little bit of what life in Southeast Alaska is really like.Five stars aren't enough. Emily and Danielle, thank you for making us feel so welcome and for giving Jennie and me one of the most personal and memorable experiences of our Alaska trip. We would absolutely do it again!

We had a great class with The Local Table while visiting Ketchikan on our cruise ship. Easy excursion to get to since it's right at the ship dock. Emily and Danielle were great teachers and have a wonderful setup for teaching a small group of 12. There is plenty of time for demonstrations along with questions and answers. Amazing locally sourced ingredients were the foundation of the class! We had a great time and we highly recommend taking this class! We are going to be sure to visit them next time we are in Ketchikan.

We had a great time, learned new recipes and enjoyed the stories about Alaska from a member of a real Salmon fishing family. Very organized so that the experience of 4 different dishes was easy and gave us the definite feeling we could do this at home. Sitting at a table with a couple of other people was also a great experience as we found commonality in cooking together and hearing about their cooking at home. We had salmon dip with crackers for an appetizer, salmon cakes, and baked salmon with two different sauces. YUM!

This was an outstanding hands-on cooking experience with delightful people in a comfortable, full kitchen. Emily is part of a multi-generation family of commercial fishermen and truly knows Alaska salmon. She and Danielle gave us excellent tips for using and cooking salmon, and our results were delicious! I'll definitely use their recipes at home.

Emily was such an amazing host. And her family vibe working alongside her was just wonderful. It was fun and interesting and the food was delicious. I can’t wait to make it at home. I highly recommend this local taste of Alaska.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Emily and her staff were so friendly, telling us about growing up and living in Ketchikan. Salmon is one of my favorite seafood items but I've never cooked it before. After taking this class, I plan on trying out the recipes at home. They were very easy and the food was delicious. My only complaint was they moved locations and the confirmation email had their old address on it. Luckily, Ketchikan is so small we were able to find their kitchen but we did go to their old location first.

The salmon class was one of the best cooking classes I have ever taken. Recipes were delicious. I look forward to making them again.

My wife and I booked our cooking class directly with the operator. The class was great and the staff were very helpful. They provided us with tips for preparing our own recipes. The food was great and we look forward to trying the recipes at home.

My husband and I did this excursion on our Alaska cruise. It was so much fun. It ended up being our favorite meal of the trip! The venue is clean and decorated so cute with beautiful views. We even caught sight of a whale while we were waiting to get seated. Emily shares the recipe for the meal, so we can make it again at home. I can’t wait to enjoy this salmon dinner with family and relive the fun memories of this experience. I would highly recommend this excursion. It’s definitely going to be a repeat for us!

Great experience from meeting at the pier to sampling(devouring) the final product. We enjoyed salmon going in to this class, now having the insight on how to prepare it and how many different options are possible, it will become a staple. Very personal experience, all of our questions were answered, the owner and staff are all a part of the local fishing community.

**Wonderful Experience at Local Table**This was such a fun experience for me and my daughter-in-law while our husbands were out fishing in Ketchikan! The setup at Local Table was lovely, and the entire team was so welcoming and gracious. We were warmly greeted with delicious tea and had the opportunity to learn some great tips and tricks for preparing salmon. It was interesting to learn about the different types of salmon and how they differ.With the team’s guidance, we prepared a delicious meal and were so pleased with how everything turned out. They added a beautiful salad and rice to complete the meal, and they even placed flowers at each setting as we sat down to eat, such a thoughtful touch!Emily was wonderful and so gracious in sharing recipes and her knowledge with us. We are so glad we did this and would highly recommend the Local Table cooking class!
