What To Expect
Starting at the National Coach Museum on Avenida da Índia, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and head for the riverfront where empires were launched. The tour is fully self-guided — no guide, no fixed start time, just your group and the city.
The Mosteiro dos Jerónimos rises first, paid for with pepper money and carved like a stone ship's rigging — Vasco da Gama rests inside. Riddles trace the Manueline knots.
The Padrão dos Descobrimentos juts into the Tagus next, a concrete caravel crewed by navigators, kings and one map-loving prince. Trivia checks who's aboard.
Then the Torre de Belém floats on the water's edge, the fortress-lighthouse that said goodbye to the great voyages.
Around two hours along the river of departures. The leaderboard docks last — pastéis de Belém, warm with cinnamon, are the true trophy.
