Overview
Your Try Scuba includes two reef dives on Key Largo's coral barrier reef — the only living barrier reef in the continental US, with a maximum of 4 students per instructor.
What sets Scuba-Fun apart is how we prepare you. Our instructors are known for their patience, especially with nervous first-timers, and we spend real time in the pool making sure you're confident before heading to the ocean. You move on when you're ready, not when the schedule says so.
On the reef, expect tropical fish, nurse sharks, eagle rays, sea turtles, goliath groupers, and barracuda. No dangerous animals — just relax and enjoy.
The price covers your full day — classroom, all scuba equipment, pool training, dive boat, and a dedicated PADI-certified instructor. Just bring a swimsuit and a towel.

What To Expect
Your morning starts with a classroom briefing where your PADI-certified instructor covers the fundamentals — breathing through a regulator, equalizing, and underwater hand signals. Then we gear you up and head to the pool to practice skills in shallow water at your own pace.
After a lunch break, you board the dive boat and head to Key Largo's coral reef — the only living barrier reef in the continental US. You'll complete two guided reef dives with your instructor, exploring coral formations, tropical fish, and marine life. The program wraps up around 5 PM.
On days when sea conditions prevent boats from going out, we dive at Jules' Undersea Lodge lagoon — a protected mangrove lagoon with a unique underwater habitat.
You will need your own transportation between the dive shop, pool site, and marina — they are a few minutes apart.
You cannot fly or travel to high altitude until at least 18 hours after diving — no flights until the following day.
All participants must be able to swim and must complete a PADI medical questionnaire. If you answer "yes" to any question, a signed doctor's release is required.

Participants in the Try Scuba Diving in Key Largo — Small Group, Max 4 Students cannot fly in an airplane within 24 hours of their dive.
The main concern with scuba diving and flying is decompression sickness (DCS). Your body needs adequate time during an ascent to off-gas excess nitrogen, or you can form bubbles in your bloodstream, possibly leading to DCS.
Jun 2024If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
