Valdemar is the best person you can ever ask for if you are in Madeira! He woke up to drive me around as early as 6am. And knew amazing spots which are unknown to tourists for great views and pictures. I cannot wait to go back and see the island again with Val. He is kind, caring and made every minute worth it.

Great experience! Definitely recommended

4x4 open top jeep tourWe booked this trip via our hotel and selected the tour of the northwest of the island. What a trip. Our driver/guide Felipe was brilliant. His local knowledge and commentary was invaluable and the consideration he gave to my wife (recovering from knee replacement surgery) was first class. The trip itself has a major off road element, a climb from the Serra D’Agua Valley to the mountain plateau. This is very bumpy and might not be to everyone’s taste, but for us it was a real highlight. The tour also included visits to the ancient Fanal Forest, the Porto Moniz volcanic pools, Seixal lava pools, Lavadas and several other stops to take in spectacular views and photo opportunities. Total trip time was around 8 hours and was a great way to see the full beauty of the island. There are plenty of other tours to different parts of the island and we will look to do these when we return to the island. Great value for the money.

We had the BEST trip with our guide Filipe who was very knowledgeable, friendly and suggested alternative locations to suite the weather and our family. We will forever be grateful for our most memorable day in Madeira.

A truly wonderful day with Valdemar exploring the east of Madeira. He took us to some amazing places away from all the tourists. We learnt and saw so much and it was such a pleasure hearing the passion and knowledge of Valdemar. Can highly recommend

We had an amazing experience with this private tour! We travelled with our whole family, using two cars , for two days. Valdemar, was fantastic — extremely knowledgeable, warm and attentive. He adapted the tours perfectly to our family, especially as my mother and mother-in-law cannot walk for long distances. He always found a way for everyone to enjoy the day comfortably. We saw beautiful places away from the crowds and learned so many interesting things about Madeira. Everything was very well organised and felt truly personal.I rarely write reviews, but this experience really deserves one. Highly recommended!

We cannot say enough about our adventure with Claudio. He was knowledgeable, funny, adventurous and so easy to be with. We traveled as a family of four: my husband and myself along with our two daughters 15 & 18. Claudio arranged for us to do the sunrise hike (heading out in the dark with headlamps - SO FUN!) then took us to a local bakery for b'fast. We then headed to PR1 for the afternoon hike which ended at his favorite spot for amazing sandwiches and snacks. We wouldn't have enjoyed our experience - or learned as much - with anyone else. Honestly, treat yourself to this memorable experience. It absolutely made our trip to Madeira!

We had a perfect day! Val is a great and knowledgeable person with a positive spirit! Definitely the best way to experience the island. We went for the East Tour and will 100% go with Val to the West next time. He showed us places we never would have been able to drive on our own. Nice places, great oceans views, no crowds, and nice little walking tours. Und, das Beste für uns, er spricht nicht nur Englisch, sondern auch sehr gut Deutsch 😁 Great Job, Val! Vielen Dank!

The actual tour was called 'Nun's Valley Open 4x4 Tour' which covered Curral das Freiras and Peaks! What an amazing adventure I loved every minute... Our driver/guide was called Lino, he was friendly and very funny, which made the experience all the better. I would highly recommend this tour the scenery and mountains are spectacular!

We had a very interesting and beautiful hiking tour to ‘The fantastic waterfalls’ together with Gonçalo. The scenery was amazing with plenty of flowers, waterfalls, impressive fauna and on some spots – with great views over the landscape. No wonder why Madeira is called ‘The Hawaii of Europe’.We had chosen a native, private guide for this tour as we were very interested in learning about Madeira’s fauna, climate, and way of life. Gonçalo was an excellent choice. Not only does he know almost everything about the Island’s climate, fauna, history, economy, educational system - and what have you – he is also a very good storyteller and a very, very pleasant company. He is thoughtful and offers a hand or his walking stick when the paths become too slippery due to mud or water. We also enjoyed the coffee break we had at a small bar in the subtropical wood. The pause and the coffee were needed after three hours’ walk and prepared us well for the trip back to the car. Moreover, it was very convenient to be picked up at the hotel in the morning and be driven back again in the afternoon. We can highly recommend this tour. We took the 13 kilometers’ walk, but Gonçalo can easily adjudge the length if required. He offers many other tours that we did not have time for this time. But we will choose Gonçalo as our private guide the next time we visit the island. That’s for sure!

WONDERFUL experience and an amazing tour guide. He knew the ins and outs of Madeira and even gave us the treat of the local drink. Highly highly recommend doing this. You will NOT regret it!!!!!

We have just returned from a fantastic full day jeep safari entitled ‘East and Madeira Peaks’. Our guide and driver, Miguel, was superb - both knowledgeable and entertaining. He kept us amused and informed throughout the excursion. When we return to Madeira we will not hesitate to use Green Devil again. The roads and tracks taken gave us fantastic views of Madeira.

Due to a nervous partner when walking at height, we went hiking with Goncalo in a small group of 4 on the trail to Pico Ruivo. It was a great hike, and Goncalo is a sound and friendly guy who had a lot of knowledge about the area. Good day out filled with laughs. Would recommend Goncalo as a guide for sure.

Great Hike. Spactacular views and phenomenal photo opportunities. Did the hike with Goncalo as my guide. Very knowledgeable, safety is his priority, and knows how give a good hike. Highly recommend both Goncalo and the sunrise hike.

Super nice, informative, and very competent. Very interesting and recommended.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We had an absolutely brilliant time hiking with Cláudio. From the moment we met him, he was friendly, funny, and very easy to get along with. He is clearly a very experienced guide and shared lots of interesting information throughout the hikes. We did both the Sunrise Hike and the Stairway to Heaven experience, and both were excellent. The views were incredible, and Cláudio made the whole experience even better with his knowledge, humour, and professionalism.Everything was well organised, relaxed, and enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend Cláudio to anyone looking for a memorable hiking experience. Thanks again for a fantastic day!Ivan Treacy
