We booked the tuk tuk tour last minute on our cruise ship when our original excursion was cancelled. We had just been in Lisbon the day before on a tuk tuk that was mediocre at best so we did not have high expectations. Well, the tuk tuk Gods smiled down on us and we were assigned to the tour guide, Joao Silva. After a 21 day Cruise with 8 port stops, our day with Joao was a highlight of our entire trip. Joao took time to orient us to the city layout for later Adventures on our own and most importantly, he took some time to get to know my husband and I so he could cater our tour and experience to what we would enjoy. Top notch tour with a great guide! Highly recommend and hope you are lucky enough to get Joao Silva for your Funchal adventure.

This was our second tour with Dino from Summer Anatomy. The west was such a contrast to the east! Amazing scenery and stop off locations. Porto Moniz and the salt water pools were fun! Once again Dino was an excellent guide with lots of recommendations we wouldn’t otherwise know. Extremely conscious of safety and Dino picked us up from our apartment again. 🙏

We had a first class day out with Dino from Summer Anatomy tours. Pick up 8:30am from our apartment. The tour of the east was relaxed and informative and at a pace that suited us. Our guide was extremely knowledgable, courteous and a great ambassador for the island and his company. We all felt very safe with Dino at the wheel!

We were picked up by Hugo, a very informative and knowledgeable young man. He took us to a beautiful church, pointed out the history and highlights in town, showed us banana trees and ( my favorite)…cotton growing from the trees. We were also shown where locals sunbathed and had to pay 5 euros to do so.

We booked this excursion as we were on a cruise and this was our final port stop.Ricardo picked us up promptly from the cruise port and was waiting for us with a sign with our name on so easy to find. He had messaged the day before with full instructions on how to find him. We had discussed previously what we wanted to do and first on our list of priorities was the Tobbogan ride. It opened at 9 and we got there 15 mins before and were 4th in line. This gets super busy waits up to a few hours later in the day so we were glad to get this done first, probably a highlight of our trip such good fun! Next we went to a couple of lookouts one with a glass floor. Ricardo then suggests a smaller cable car for us to do which took us down to a small beach near a farm, this was much better than the main one. We ended the trip with some free time in a small fishing that Winston Churchill used to go to paint, we had free time to grab some food and explore the village also try the local drink poncho. Ricardo was so helpful and informative even lending us some money as we didn’t have enough cash on us before we found a cash point. He is extremely knowledgeable about his home and made our trip great fun and informative. I would highly recommend.

THE BEST (FUN) WAY TO DISCOVER MADEIRA
I must start by stating that I have no connection to Adventure Trikes other than being a completely satisfied customer. This was our third experience with Adventure Trikes, and our third different driver. All experiences have wanted us coming back for more, so on this occasion we booked the 6 hour experience. A huge thank you and congratulations for providing such a memorable way to experience Madeira. The trike ride itself was great fun, but what really made the day special are the guides. Friendly, engaging and full of humour, he managed to keep us entertained while also sharing an impressive knowledge of the island, its history, culture and some of its less obvious treasures. There was a perfect balance between information and fun. We learned a great deal without ever feeling as though we were sitting through a history lesson, and there were plenty of laughs along the way. The guides clearly know Madeira extremely well and, just as importantly, know how to bring the island to life for their passengers and take you to places you could never otherwise find or get to. Travelling by trike also gives you a wonderful sense of freedom and adventure — with the added bonus that someone else knows where they are going! It is certainly a far more entertaining way to see Madeira than simply looking through the window of a tour bus. Professional, knowledgeable, welcoming and great company from start to finish. Thank you for giving us such an enjoyable and memorable experience. We would happily recommend the trike tour to anyone looking for a fun, different and thoroughly entertaining way to discover Madeira.

This was a perfect way to see so much of Madeira! Diogo (and his brother) were great guides (with great English). Even the ride between stops was beautiful. We were able to tweak our tour a bit to see more of what we wanted to. Traveling in a van was so much more comfortable than the jeep tours looked. I will definitely recommend this to any friends or family who come to Madeira. We saw what we wanted without the terror of driving ourselves lol.

Madeira is an amazing island. We also went on the West tour the previous day. Our East tour guide/driver Jessica was fantastic. A native Madeiran for several generations, it was immediately obvious how much she loved her island. Jessica was full of information, willing to answer questions, has a good sense of humor, and is an experienced driver. The roads can be tricky to navigate.

We had the most amazing day with Diego as he smoothly guided us to each of the must see spots in the north and west of Madeira! As a 5th generation Madeiran, his knowledge of culture, food, agriculture, restaurants and landmarks was top notch. We got the bonus of knowing him as a person on our drives in his spotless and comfortable van. The tour was personal and relaxed, exactly what we wanted. We wish we could give him more than 5 stars as he gave us a lifetime of memories. He even provided tips after our tour ended for the rest of our week. Diego goes above and beyond and is worth every Euro of the tour! Highly recommend!
