The visit to Ranua Zoo was perfect. We arranged a private tour tailored to our schedule, as we were traveling with a small child, and Normund, our guide, was extremely helpful and kind. The experience was wonderful — highly recommended!

Summer in Rovaniemi is so amazing! Our family had the opportunity to learn how to survive in the outdoors while enjoying some of the artic gems: cloudberries & blueberries picking, fishing at the lake, building shelter, learn to hunt and make fire… Our guide Marjon was so experienced and took us on an adventure we’ll never forget. For my trip to Rovaniemi I booked separately flights from Milan and a Hotel, and then I chose Safartica from Italy as their website was really clear and it's possible to book each experience you want to have, with clear details and prices. They're so professional, starting from clothes: the price for each experience included all equipment you need as suits, gloves, shoes, wool socks; but remember that with -20 degrees you need to have good layers under suits, please don't go to Rovaniemi with blue jeans!!). All was well organized with private transfers for small groups, we tried ice fishing with motorbikes (the one I like most), reindeer visit and Santa Claus Village (too commercial).

I only learned of this activity quite by accident, but it seemed like a must-do thing while we were in the Arctic. Besides, it had been a stinking hot day - yes, go figure, in the Arctic! We were picked up at our accommodation by Marjo who was a font of information about reindeer and the Lapp people and very pleasant company for the trip to the cabin in the wilderness. My husband and I ended up being the only people on the trip, which made it special as we could enjoy the quiet together. Marjo ran us through how the survival suit works and how to get into the water and then we were off, keen to start our adventure. The suit is cumbersome and uncomfortable (at least for me) but it sure helps you float. The sheer beauty and tranquillity of floating on a Finnish lake under the midnight sun can't be described. We felt like a pair of otters floating around holding hands. Marjo took some photos for us but after 15 minutes I decided I didn't like the way the suit was so tight around my throat so I climbed out (an easy to use ladder is provided) and Marjo helped me out of the suit while my husband continued his floating experience. I found the water temperature surprisingly bearable and refreshing and enjoyed myself without the suit more than with it. If it hadn't been for the insects trying to devour us, we'd have stayed in longer. We both really enjoyed this activity and would love to do it in winter as well (although there's no way I'm going in the lake without a suit in winter!) On the way home we were privileged to see a rare albino reindeer.

We were met at the airport and all the way with Normand for 6 days. On time. Good with local Knowledge. Sincere. Not over "talking", yet not mute. We shall use his and company services again on our next trip to Rovaniemi. Thank you.

It was very great experience after the long road to Rovaniemi. We was picked up from the place where we was staying in a new and comfortable van, with prepared baby seat so we didn’t have to worry about anything. Then Normunds introduced himself, explained how long trip will take. Then our ride started, Normunds answered all our questions about Lapland, slowed down to show us reindeers who was just chilling on the roadside. It was very cool to see them in wildlife. Then we arrived at the Zoo , even with wheather not being the best we was really enjoying. The Zoo is really child friendly. There was free strolley you can take while visiting the zoo. Many animals was very close to fence and was visible. Trails are not too hard and are interesting. At the end of the zoo there is big playpark, fazer shop and nice pizza buffet. Normund explained all that to us when we arrived, let us take our time without to rush and was very professional. It was thrully great experience to feel like a tourist and not need to think about anything thanks to Normund! We really suggest!

It was nice experience for the whole family. We were lucky with wheather - fresh snow, chily, but very fresh air 😊 We have got friendly, professional services, enjoyed the company throughout our visit to Ranua Zoo. We could feel, that guide was passionate about Arctic. Thanks for great memories and wish the best in the future.

The host was excellent. She provided useful tips and was friendly She waited for us at the wildlife park while toured and then told us about the Finland chocolate that was cheaper there verses in Santa’s village. The ride to/from the park was a little over an hour and she was a safe and pleasant driver

Excellent service and well-organized transfers and visit. We had a lovely and cold day spent in Ranua Zoo with animals. Shame that the children's playground was closed, probably for safety reasons. The playground looked really good though, hopefully, they open it soon.

Andrew was awesome. We utilized him for a private zoo tour and a transfer to Levi. He accommodated our group very well (3young kids). Would highly recommend their services and not attempt to drive on the ice a dodge reindeers.

I have seen some pretty well known zoo around the world and I have to say this is a very different experience. The breadth of animal exhibits is small compared to wild life reserves in temperate or tropical climates and expectation has to be managed before hand and cannot be compared to Australia or San Diego or Singapore. Don’t allocate more than half day to this, at most, including traveling time from Rovaniemi. But the amazing winter wilderness and the first hand experience of the arctic fauna is something worth seeing. Thankfully even though it was snowing - we managed to see most of the key animals. It was pre peak season so not crowded and great views. The infrastructure and amenities can be improved. Add some more mid way shelters, maybe a couple of hot refreshment outlets to “take care” of the tourists. But the stark, impersonal but safe and efficient brand of hospitality is keeping with the overall Finland experience. The Nortsav tour company was super efficient and our guide Gunita was absolutely perfect for us. Thanks for making it a great family day for us.
