Amazing!!
Jhoana Z was an AMAZING tour guide. Not only did she have a ton of information about the surrounding area, but she was able to help out with our engagement without me (the future bride) having even the slightest clue as to what was going on until it was already happening. Our entire experience was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide and overall experience at Bacalar Lagoon. Book with Jhoana!!!

Excellent tour for our family of 10.
Beautiful experience. Jhoana was our guide and she was excellent. She took care of little details and dove into the history of Costa Maya, Bacalar and Chetumal. Meeting was just outside the port. Transportation was in an air conditioned van and our chat made it go quick. Lago Bacalar is beautiful. The clear, clean and fresh water was beautiful. And to top it off we had a great lunch. Highly recommended.

Morales: Best tour guide EVER. 5 stars
Our private tour exceeded every expectation, and Morales was the biggest reason why. He was, without a doubt, the best tour guide we’ve ever had. His knowledge of the Maya ruins, local history, and culture was incredible, and he shared everything in a way that kept our entire group engaged from start to finish. What made the tour stand out was how interactive he made it. He brought maps, props, and visual aids that helped us understand how the ancient city was laid out and what life was like centuries ago. Instead of simply pointing at ruins, he brought them to life with stories and detailed explanations. Morales was also friendly, patient, and happy to answer every question we had. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and wants every guest to leave with a deeper appreciation of the history and culture. If you’re visiting Costa Maya, I highly recommend booking this private tour and asking for Daniel Morales if possible. He turned what would have been a great tour into one of the highlights of our entire cruise.

Best jet ski excursion in Bacalar Lagoon, Highly Recommend!!
Highly recommended booking this experience! We had an incredible time in Costa Maya at the Bacalar Lagoon thanks to booking this excursion. We received great communication prior to date of our booking as well as the day of. We had a driver and guide waiting for us as soon as we exited the cruise port. Their directions made it easy to find them. We went on an hour car ride to the lagoon where our guide Jhonana gave us the history of Costa Maya and lots of interesting information. When we arrived to the lagoon Jhonana got us set up on the jet skis and took us on an adventure of a life time. Our teenage boys had a blast flying through the crystal clear blue waters as did we. Jhoana took us to a spot with a white sandy bottom and teal blue waters where we jumped off the jet skis and swam around while she prepared us a delicious snack and refreshing drinks that we enjoyed while floating around in the lagoon. We had 2 hours on the jet ski going at whatever pace we wanted enjoying a great portion of the lagoon. We were treated to yummy tacos when we arrived back at the restaurant on shore and then were taken back to our cruise port. The entire staff was professional, friendly, and everyone went above and beyond to ensure we had the adventure of a lifetime. Our expectations were far exceeded and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again in the future.

Kohunlich Mayan Ruins Private Shore Excursion

Mayan Ruins
My sister's and I visited the Kohunlich Mayan Ruins during our time in Costa Maya, and we had a fabulous time. We decided to book our excursion through Royal Caribbean because it was priced well, and we were guaranteed to return to our ship on time. Our group met up at the port and awaited our tour guide, to gather us all onto the bus. The ride was comfortable with plenty of seating, air conditioning, and packed lunches for us. It took approximately 2 hours to reach the site, but the time passed quickly. The ruins were definitely worth seeing. Walking through the jungle, viewing the Temple of the Masks, climbing the Temple of the Kings, exploring the living quarters, and learning about their trade and the games they played was exciting. Our tour guide was knowledgeable about the Mayan Culture and spoke with great pride about his people’s history. Although it was tough to hear that so much was taken from their land, it was also uplifting to know that the descendants of the Mayan people still exist, that their dialect is being passed on, and historical sites are being well-preserved.It was interesting to hear that they didn’t sacrifice people everyday, only specific times of the year (not that this makes it any better lol) Also that many words in the English language do not mean the same to them (ie- to “Wish” means to “Pee” and “Kiss” means to “Fart”) so the kids had a ball with that! This was one of the few temples that you could actually climb, and so we did and had a great time while doing it.There wasn’t a huge crowd at this site, which gave it a more intimate experience. No vendors selling souvenirs or food, just our small group enjoying nature at its best.

2nd time here was even better than the 1st!
So this is our 2nd year in a row we booked this excursion and we can’t wait to book it again. The way the staff takes care of your every need is simply amazing. My wife and I had the beach to ourselves the entire time! We can’t believe others cancel their booking because of seaweed….its everywhere in Costa Maya. You can’t get away from it. We were offered the chance to cancel for a full refund and we begged them to let us come! The food was the best we’ve had on any excursion we’ve been on (guacamole, ceviche, lobster, snapper). All the seafood was freshly caught that morning! The drinks were delicious too, especially the Key Lime Pie and the Caipirinha. I went out snorkeling (yes I had to get through sargassum first) and had one of the best “snorkeling-from-beach” experiences I’ve ever had. The reef had very colorful coral and many species of fish. I also found conch shells (unfortunately they were occupied so I had to leave them). My wife and I were sad when the time came to head back to the ship. We felt so relaxed and refreshed from our wonderful private beach experience. Thanks Louis and staff for making our time so memorable!

Private tour of Chocchoben is the best
Daniel Morales was amazing. We had a private car. Driver and guide. So nice to exit the cruise port. Hop in a car and head to Chocchoben before the crowds. We got great pictures and learned alot about Mayan history and culture. Our boys are 5 and 7 and loved it. Our guide was great. He was patient with the boys and took lots of pictures of us and showed us everything all while missing all of the crowds. After the archeological park we stopped for fresh pineapple and then had an amazing lunch before getting dropped back at the cruise pier with time to swim. Would definitely recommend the private tour.

Beautiful area to walk around and see the various ruins. Joseph, our guide, was fantastic! He knew so much about the history and traditions. Ruins were very interesting to see, we climbed the steps on a couple, amazing to see the them. Joseph was a wonderful guide and made the day a special family memory for grandparents, parents, and kids.

We had an amazing experience. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The hospitality and care for us was personal and thoughtful. This location is such a gem.
