Sintra Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

The tour guide Rodrigo was amazing! Immediately after we booked, he contacted us to tell us the meeting place and time. He came exactly in time. His communication and English language was outstanding. His knowledge of the history of each site was excellent. He was very friendly and accommodating to our needs throughout the day. As a young man, I feel he has a great future in the tourism industry.

John (Joao)was our great tour guide for this half day trip. We had to meet in Sintra and his communication was flawless guiding us to his location to meet the group. His knowledge and passion for these two historic sites was on display. This tour did not include a tour inside the Pena Palace. The line was so long so if that is a bucket list for you, be prepared. That said we did tour the outside area of the Peña Palace and had an amazing tour of Quinta Da Regaleira. Meeting in Sintra on our own allowed to continue on to Cascais for the rest of the day. This was a perfect choice for our itinerary!

Francisco (Chico) is an excellent guide. He is very warm and goes out of his way to accommodate needs. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and engaging.

This tour of Sintra and Caisca was great. Our tour guide Rodrigo was awesome. Very informative and provided the history of Portugal with a good sense of humor. It was a wonderful experience. Small group and comfortable small van transportation. Would definitely recommend this experience!!

Booking our Pena Palace and Park tickets through Dream Fly Tourism LLC was a great choice. The whole experience was easy and well arranged, with no confusion during the process. We loved exploring the beautiful palace, colorful architecture, and surrounding park. Everything went smoothly and made our visit truly memorable!

Famous for its vibrant yellow and red facades, eclectic architecture, and panoramic views over the surrounding Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, it is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had a timed entry ticket. Visit early in the day before the temperatures rise.

Wellington was so friendly and patient—and he happily answered all of our son’s questions. (Our son is a very curious 10-year-old). He also extended our tour time to make sure we saw every palace on the itinerary.

Rodrigo was wonderful - professional and full of information. He made the tour fun and interesting. The Pena Palace has tons of intricate details we wouldn't have noticed otherwise, as well as being a beautiful mash up of architectural styles. You can either walk up or take a shuttle, but the walk doesn't feel long at all, even at a slower pace, and you learn about the botanical imports from the same time period as the palace was built.The Moorish Castle was the reason we booked this tour in particular, since very few tours include it, and we were happy to explore the ruins and viewpoint. It's a fairly short walk from the Pena Palace but much less crowded.The free time at Sintra and Cascais was well managed. The small towns were lovely, but very crowded, so we were happy to have a van ride away. There was also another stop at a beautiful viewpoint over the coast which seems to be only a local spot.It would have been difficult and much more stressful to plan a day trip ourselves and we learned a lot more thanks to Rodrigo!

Worth a visit just for the gorgeous park and walk up to the palace. Absolutely stunning.

This was one of the top highlights of our 11-day trip to Portugal. Our driver was excellent. He was filling in for someone who had a broken foot and normally worked maintaining all their wonderful jeeps. We always felt safe while having some fun too. Each stop was excellent. From the gardens to the incredible lunch in a chief's personal home, I could not recommend a better way to spend your day. You get a great sense of the Portuguese culture and the wonderful people there.

Great information about Sintra sites, history, plants, trees and environmental diversity. Our guide was clearly passionate about.Sintra.

Fredrico was absolute the best. We wanted a different experience and he showed us the part of Sintra through his eyes and compassions. This is truly the best way to see Sintra and all the surrounding areas. He had great compsssion for his country and it rubbed off to us. Thank you for an amazing day!

It was wonderful, and not as crowded for a a weekend like we thought it would be. We could stay as long as we wanted, and it was gorgeous in and around the palace. It took us longer to get up to the gate than we thought since we thought the gate was a lot lower, so we were late for our entry time, but no one said anything and they happily let us in. Thank you!

Our day with Tomás was absolutely wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and personable. It was a great mix of learning, enjoying, conversing, and having some time to ourselves. Between sites we enjoyed a delicious, authentic lunch at a non-touristy restaurant that we never would have found on our own. Tomás was happy to wait for me to take a million pictures and was great at getting pics of my husband and me that weren’t selfies. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Best experience ever! Antonio started by asking about my level, and what was important to me. It was most certainly a hike, rugged and uphill. He is very knowledgable about the plant life, the flowers, the history. Very enjoyable, happy to have had this experiende
