Williamsburg Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

I have this 5 stars for "Value for Money" only because we had a coupon and paid $1. I do not think it's worth $25. At the Yorktown Battlefield Museum, they had a free audio guide you could download for a driving tour as well. Now we didn't do that one so do not know the quality. We did enjoy this narrator and the fact that if you missed a turn, it tells you. We shared ear buds. It worked great. We learned a lot.

The tour started on time, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable, kind and efficient. It was fun to meet the other guests on the tour as well. The bus was air conditioned, very comfortable and roomy. We very much enjoyed the museums and other sites of interest that had been arranged for us. Lunch was provided, offering a variety of selections. We think the admission fee was well worth it, and very reasonable for the all-day excursion. We would definitely recommend this tour to friends and family.

Make sure you wear good walking shoes and be careful of the cobble stones and uneven surfaces. Enjoy the stories told

Our guide was very knowledgeable about Williamsburg in general, along with the haunted history! It was a very hot day but the pace was great. I would definitely recommend this as a good introduction to get a sense of Williamsburg before diving into the CW on your self-guided tours.

Amazing. Fun for the whole family. Definitely recommend carving out a couple hours for this. The slight of hand is incredible, the tricks and illusions are top notch. Every seat is so close. Great time.

Well, what can we say, Matt was our guide and most reading this will nod and know where we are coming from. A really comfortable and seemingly brand new bus took us to our trip, starting at Jamestown then to Yorktown, Matt was guiding us with information left and right throughout, he was a mine of information. Both towns and sites and sights were superb, each one being explained by Matt in great detail. In the Museums he guided us, set the scenes and left us to visit at our own pace and likes. We had the 'included in the trip' (and we chose the) traditional Colonial lunch, both of us the stew, me starting with the peanut soup and wife finishing with a gigantic piece of carrot cake (had to assist with the obligatory 'third'). All washed down with unlimited sodas. To say the stew was excellent is not to do it justice, it was everything; fellow travellers chose other dishes, some beige and to be fair and with food envy, the pulled pork looked really good too. Portions were for a 'growing lad' and not stingy. We had a wonderful, safe and long day with a lovely group of fellow travellers; we were the two British representatives among lovely US folk. Some great swapping of tales about how each country is run/set up and much banter about topical things too, lovely people. There was too much to see to be specific, lets just say we werent disappointed - you can just leave the car at the car park and jump the bus. Final word about our guide Matt, thanks very much, he is a really nice person as well as an excellent, professional and proud Virginian and Guide.

We thoroughly enjoyed colonial Williamsburg. We bought annual tickets so we could go in and see everything. We took my daughter‘s family and because of our annual tickets we actually at that time we’re able to get them 50% off on the tickets so their children got to enjoy some of the old time sites firsthand. It was very nice. And it was very educational.

Very informative tour. Some tongue in cheek things. Guide was very patient it was 100 degrees humidity and very uncomfortable.

Great visitor center. Well-run and organized! We made it to the Governors Palace in time for the Jefferson interpretive presentation at 10:30. It was v well done and made him much more relatable and likeable. The buildings were well marked. The CW docents were helpful and informative. Even our bus driver was fun! If you’re interested in Colonial times, 10/10 recommend.

Ben was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the history of Williamsburg and it’s haunted past.

The show was very relaxing. I really liked the personal approach as they mingle with the audience. This is a reminder that no matter our age, magic is something that brings the kid out of you.

What a fun experience for me and my mom! I wanted my mom to experience the living museum located in Williamsburg with a knowledgeable guide and we really did. The tour started at the Williamsburg Inn, which is a hidden gem because I 100% would have never visited and experienced the history and amazing food at this historical luxury hotel. It was nice to learn so much in so little time about the founding fathers! Most interesting fact i picked up....the reason why it was a death sentence if you stole 3 pigs or a horse or killed a man was because livestock could be someone's life/life saving. They didn't have forensics so thwarting a crime through harsh sentencing was the best way to keep people honest in the 1700's. Thanks for a wonderful tour/experience. Definitely coming back and will use you guys agai .

Watch the weather — we had rain, but Lisa made it very enjoyable. She had tons of information and interacted with us throughout the tour.

Ginny was an amazing tour guide! Super engaging and family friendly. We wanted something doable in length and duration for our 2 year old. Ended up being the only ones so it felt very personable, not too scary but definitely creepy :) Thanks!
