Top Yellowknife Photography Tours

Our first day of 5 in yellowknife we took this tour and it was amazing! We saw the lights, a great show was on display along with Northern Lights chasing to get the best view with Doris. Our second time that week it was rainy and cloudy the visibility of the lights was hard. It was a no show that night. Emmett did a great job keeping us entertained that night. Can’t control mother nature!I highly recommend this tour.

Wendy was a very professional guide. We were lucky to view aurora on the first night. Would definetely recommend.

Stunning Scenery & Photo Opportunities The views on this tour are truly gorgeous. The itinerary takes you through several unique scenic stops that are perfect for snapping memorable photos ("photo ticking"). What really stood out was the lake : viewing the night sky and the reflection of the moon over this specific lake was far superior to any of the other lakes we visited during our trip. The angle of the moon over the water created an almost magical, picture-perfect backdrop.

If you are planning a trip to Yellowknife to catch the Northern Lights, choosing a local, family-run operator makes all the difference! From start to finish, our experience was completely seamless, welcoming, and deeply memorable.  Warm Hospitality & Personal Touches Because the company is operated as a family business, you can feel the genuine care and personal touch right from day one. You are treated like an honored guest rather than just another ticket number. They were exceptionally attentive to every detail—ensuring we had proper arctic gear, staying on top of weather and aurora forecasts, and constantly checking in to make sure everyone in our group was warm, comfortable, and well taken care of. Outstanding Local Guides A huge shoutout to the guide team! Most of the guides were energetic young people from Hong Kong, bringing a wonderful blend of professional dedication, local expertise, and warm, friendly energy. They are fluent trilingual (making communication completely effortless), highly knowledgeable about the science and folklore behind the Aurora, and extremely patient. They worked tirelessly each night to track down the clear skies so we could get the best possible view of the lights.  On top of their guiding duties, they were fantastic photographers! They helped us set up our cameras and took stunning photos of us under the dancing Aurora, giving us keepsakes we'll treasure forever.  Overall Experience The logistics—from airport transfers and hotel pickups to daytime activities and nightly aurora hunting—were executed flawlessly. Everything ran right on schedule without ever feeling rushed.  Visiting Yellowknife was on our bucket list, and this team made the entire experience stress-free, magical, and 100% worth it. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone heading up North!

Very complete experience discovering the Cameron Falls, Sai was a great guide and was happy to answer our questions. Hiking was not to hard and the view is totally worth it.

the tour guide is friendly and experienced!

We had booked 2 trips, the Aurora Station and Aurora by bus. For both nights we had Phyllis for our tour guide. :) Although the first night was smoky and cloudy, Phyllis was able to get a couple of pictures of the aurora through the clouds. The second night was clear and we took some amazing pictures. It was a great time.

Last night we went on the Northern Lights tour and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Beyond the auroras themselves, which were absolutely stunning, I would especially like to highlight Tina and Ivy. From the very beginning they were friendly, patient, and highly professional, always smiling and making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying the tour. They explained everything with great enthusiasm and clarity, which made the experience even more special. We also really appreciated the photos they took of us during the night. They were very dedicated to capturing great pictures of everyone with the auroras, and the results were amazing — such a beautiful way to remember the experience. Their care, passion, and attention to detail truly made the night unforgettable. I would 100% recommend this tour!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the very beginning, the treatment we received from Tina and Ivy was outstanding — both were incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help with anything we needed. They truly made us feel welcome and well taken care of. We went to the cabin to see the Northern Lights, and it was an unforgettable experience. The location was perfect, cozy, and ideal for enjoying the auroras in a peaceful and magical setting. Everything was well organized, comfortable, and exactly as described. My partner and I enjoyed every moment and created memories we will never forget. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and a big part of that was thanks to Tina and Ivy’s exceptional hospitality. Highly recommended — we would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic Arctic experience! The guide met us at the airport, helped with luggage, and kept everything efficient. Our 4-hour aurora bus hunt was comfortable with hot drinks provided. The highlight was a surprise campfire at -25°C, where kids roasted marshmallows and sausages—an unforgettable touch under the northern lights. Highly recommended! PS. Must rent the clothing and boots to withstand the extreme weather

Highly recommend Arctic Tours Canada’s private northern lights tour. Our guide, Deven, was puncture, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about northern lights and the history of Yellowknife. We are also grateful the Mother Nature made our tour a truly magical experience.

We joined the tour to Indigenous Village. Amazing experience. We saw the northern lights for around 45 min. Angus our guide is very professional, looking after is transiting from bus on the sled and took a lot of photos for us. Our friends had a really great time and experience.

An unforgettable experience! The tour yesterday was incredible, seeing the Northern Lights was a dream come true, everything was well organized and the guide was wonderful. Highly recommended!

We arrived in Yellowknife yesterday, and this aurora tour made it an unforgettable first night! Our guide Mo first took us to a parking lot where we could already spot a faint aurora glow — a great start. As more people gathered there, Mo suggested moving to a cozy log cabin spot instead, where the aurora was much more vivid and the sky was clearer. Best of all, it felt private — we were the only group there, with no crowds to compete with for a good view. Mo was fantastic throughout, patiently helping us find the best angles and taking tons of beautiful photos for us. Highly recommend this tour for anyone hoping to catch the northern lights in Yellowknife!

We ended up not going to the Aurora Lodge because it was cloudy on that side of town. Mo, our guide, he ended up taking us quite a distance in the direction of Cameron Falls. It was still cloudy for quite a while, but while many of us sat in the bus waiting for the clouds to disperse, Mo was out there diligently watching for auroras! We did see some northern lights and Mo was very helpful by taking our picture and later sharing them with us. It was a great adventure.!
