Leon was excellent. He was highly knowledgable and was able to answer any questions we had. We enjoyed all aspects of the tour.

Pickup was easy. Driver shows up on time and very courteous. The guide Juke was excellent. He go all out to hunt for the lights for us. We had him for 3 nights. All three nights were cloudy. However, the kp was 1.6 on the first night. So, he hunted and drove to the west to hope for a window of clear sky. We waited and waited and sure enough, we saw the dancing of northern lights! I've been chasing this for years. No luck in Iceland (2 times) and Finland. Finally crossed it off!Luke helped us take awesome pictures and time-lapsed video and shared even before we went back to the hotel.KP index was very weak the last two nights. Luke tried his best, finally found an open sky but the show was just too weak. We saw a faint light here and there those two nights. However, just the first night show was worth it!!Highly recommend this tour to anyone!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lovingson made this tour unforgettable! I booked this 4-hour wildlife tour along Highway 3 hoping to spot the famous wood bison herd. While the bison stayed hidden that day (wildlife makes no promises!), we were treated to something even more thrilling a bear sighting - happily munching berries getting ready for the winter. But the real star of the tour was our guide, Lovingson. His knowledge of the area, the wildlife, and the landscape was incredible, and he shared it all with such warmth, humor, and genuine enthusiasm that the four hours flew by. He kept us engaged the entire time and made everyone in our group feel like we were exploring with an old friend. You can tell he truly loves what he does. Even without the bison, I'd rate this experience five stars without hesitation, great scenery, a memorable bear encounter, and a world-class guide.

Amazing experience that was totally unexpected. A local from YK told me that we should check this museum out as they feature the wildlife species from around Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories. I was thinking of stuffed animal heads but found an incredible display of the wildlife. Met the taxidermist whose love of the area, animals and the craft were evident. Animals were either donated or purchased but not hunted for this purpose. The displays are so natural looking and the education that was in the iPad tour was exceptional. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area.

Absolutely worth it! We had such a wonderful and memorable experience. We spent the day fishing, kayaking, and simply relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings on the private property.Pick-up was right on time, everything was well organized, and our host was friendly and welcoming. He also prepared a simple but delicious lunch for us, which was a really nice touch.It was a perfect way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors around Yellowknife. We had a great time and felt it was well worth the money. Highly recommended!

I was really impressed by this company even before we arrived in Yellowknife. Our guide Leon had already been checking the weather forecast before our trip and texted me about the weather for the day of our tour. We discussed the possibilty of changing the date based on the weather/aurora activity but decided to wait until the day of the tour to decide. When we got to Yellowknife and on the tour date, Leon texted me that if was a go-ahead for that night. My husband and I were the only ones booked, so we had our own private tour guide! We stopped at a couple of lakes but there was no aurora activity, so we went to the Lodge where we were able to go inside and out on the deck. Eventually there was a little bit of aurora activity and Leon took pictures for us. Leon was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of facts about the aurora and Yellowknife. Wish we saw more aurora, but this experience was very positive. We liked this company so much that we booked a city tour for the next day. Thanks Leon!

We had booked 2 trips, the Aurora Station and Aurora by bus. For both nights we had Phyllis for our tour guide. :) Although the first night was smoky and cloudy, Phyllis was able to get a couple of pictures of the aurora through the clouds. The second night was clear and we took some amazing pictures. It was a great time.

From my experience as an Native American museum professional, I *loved* this tour by Joe and Meeka. As Indigenous tour guides, they both generously shared a balanced mix of personal and historical information throughout the visit. I am fortunate that I visited the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre through this experience rather than on my own and without a guide. After the tour concludes, you might want to stay and look around on your own (check the museum daily hours).If you're thinking about booking this, I'd recommend scheduling it towards the start of the trip, so you will be grounded in knowledge about the land and culture of Yellowknife and the broader Northwest Territories.

I had an amazing experience on this aurora tour! The guides were very friendly and fun, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I was able to see incredibly beautiful northern lights, especially when the aurora kept moving across the sky. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen!

I know if we can see Aurora is up to our fortune and the nature's whims, but once it comes up, how we can take it is up to our choice of the tour. In that sense, I strongly recommend this tour because of the guide's hospitality, kindness, and professionality. Everything is very well-prepared, so we didn't have any inconvenience. She is local in Yellowknife, so she knows very well about this town and her story attracts us much. The Aurora station is very comfortable inside and the special chair on the rooftop is perfect to lay back and look over the Aurora and stars. Even I brought my four year child, he enjoys it. We were super lucky to be able to see Aurora and shooting stars, but I believe even you cannot see you must be able to enjoy the night there.

I had a fantastic experience on the Bison Highway Wildlife Tour today. My guide, Saphire, was incredibly knowledgeable—not just about the bison and surrounding landscape, but also about Yellowknife and the local Indigenous communities. Her passion for the tour really stood out and made the experience even more engaging. She was a genuinely lovely person to spend time with, which made the solo tour feel very welcoming and enjoyable. I would absolutely do this again in a different season and highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

Took two tours with My Backyard Tours. I phoned at the last minute, and they accommodated me on the City Tour, which I was grateful for. Great price, and I was able to book a hike even though it was just me. Hiking with Monty for most of the day felt like hanging with someone who knew the area. I also appreciated seeing some parts of Yellowknife that weren't officially part of the agenda but Monty found I was interested in. All very relaxed and very flexible with the agenda. Really good.

It was everything and anything we expected! The guide was very responsive. They started slightly later but were immediately available on the phone so I wasn’t in the unknown. Once we got there, we were greeted by some of the house dogs, very friendly and cute! The company seems to take good care of the dogs and only lets them run twice and then changes the “crew” completely. Only 3 people per ride, so the others stayed in a warm winter tent and enjoyed a home made bread by the owner’s grandmother’s recipe. This family has been here forever and has a history deeply rooted in NWT. We mingled with other participants who told their stories and made some great recommendations about future attractions. Once it was our turn, we sat in the sleigh that had some blankets, and off we went! The owner followed on a snowmobile and pictured us from a distance. When we got back, we did some axe throwing, and I now know I suck at it :))) I highly recommend these guys to everyone!
