Top Darwin Sightseeing Packages

The itinerary was phenomenal with so much natural beauty & splendour. We were taken a bit by surprise when we arrived at our first camp area. Our guide started by asking the younger members of the group to give preference to the mature ones for the lower bunks in shared cabins. Plus top bunks had no ladders. Fortunately our group was smaller & were all able to find some private space. I think these arrangements could have been discussed earlier with options explained. At our 2nd campsite all the tents appeared with swags for everyone. Overall the pace was very relaxed & enjoyable with plenty of time to enjoy each of the amazing locations we were taken to. I felt we were safely guided through the challenging terrain we encountered at times. Nate provided informative commentary along the way. He was very accommodating to some challenging dietary restrictions in the group. It was a great group that all pitched in to assist for meal & camp setup.

I took this tour in August 2026 with the incredible Rhett Ericsen-Miller as a guide. There was nine in the group, which was smaller than the max load, but even if there had been a bigger group, we'd have been fine I'm sure. The tour has several pickup points at hotels around Darwin, I was in Parap so the pickup was at a servo nearby as I don't think Rhett would have appreciated navigating the massive truck and trailer down to my hotel. On that note, hotels in Darwin are pretty cool about storing excess bags while you're out touring.There were small deviations from the tour itinerary, because of conditions and road closures, so we went to Motor Car Falls as Jim Jim Falls was closed. Not a big deal at all.Rhett had a tremendous amount of knowledge of Aboriginal culture and the importance of the places we visited, and was able to share that knowledge incredibly well. The way he was able to put a lot of things about, for example, the Aboriginal experience, and contextualize some of the more complicated things one might see in Darwin. All guides in Kakadu National Park are required to complete a pretty intensive course on the Aboriginal culture and the lands, and Rhett was able to tell their stories incredibly well. The tour also visits a cultural centre which adds a lot of that context as well.The Koolpin Gorge hike, as the tour marketing suggests, is very challenging and not for people without some degree of fitness. There's no real trail, it requires a fair bit of rock hopping, balance, and agility in places, but the reward of reaching the top of the gorge is more than worth it. We were surprised to see a freshwater crocodile in the second pool, but it seemed indifferent to our presence and just carried on with its day.If you're device dependent, definitely bring a big power bank as after the second night there are limited opportunities to charge devices. Use airplane mode on your phone most of the time, as you won't have any connectivity in most places anyway, and if you do, only Telstra really works. If you've got dietary requirements, pack snacks that work too. I wish I had brought surf shoes for the pools rather than being barefoot.This was a tremendous experience, excellent value, and the highlight of this trip to Australia.I could not have put something together like this for myself for less cost, and even then, the value of the guides are priceless.

With 5 and 9 year old boys we had limited options while booking a trip to the national parks of the NT. ATA offered a family friendly 4 day, 3 night tour that tailored the hiking and other aspects of the trip to enable younger children to participate.The details of the tour were as follows: Cruise the Mary River wetlands at Corroboree Billabong; Visit Cahill’s Crossing; Discover ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr; Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) was closed so we went to Gunlom Waterfall instead, and the secluded Ikoymarrwa (Moline Rockhole); Take a guided cruise through the dramatic Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park; Relax with a swim at Edith Falls; Explore Litchfield National Park’s termite mounds, Florence Falls, Wangi Falls, and Buley Rockholes;Although each day of the tour had similarities, each stop had its own uniqueness and beauty. I have never swam in so many incredibly beautiful places.The tour was great and catered for younger travelers very well. There was just the right amount of driving, stops, and hiking whereby everyone enjoyed themselves but weren't bored or overtired by the end of the day. Fans in the tents also made the warmer nights much more comfortable. Although the permanent tents were basic they were more than suitable for a comfortable nights sleep.What made the trip a truly amazing experience, and one all 4 of us will cherish forever was two-fold.First was our tour guide Rhett. Tour guide is not a fair description. Rhett is a fountain of knowledge, a musician, a comedian, an entertainer, eccentric, patient and a truly great bloke. During our long drives he shared just enough, but not too much, of the history of a place or interesting facts about the local flora and fauna. He entertained us with his guitar skills and hosted a sing song evening involving the entire group. He opened our minds with his deep interest in the stars, the universe, and what it all means, all while making us laugh out loud with his comedic delivery of Rhett's Guide to the Galaxy. No matter what I write it cannot adequately explain the incredibly positive impact Rhett had on our experience and the enjoyment of our holiday. Rhett is a credit to ATA and you should seek him out for any tour.Second is the group we travelled with. There were 15 of us in total, made up of 4 families. The kids immediately got on, which is their way, and during breaks, dinner, and the tour stops the adults slowly but surely started chatting away and getting to know each other. We enjoyed dinner as a group each night, helped tidy up, and hung out at each swimming spot. We were so fortunate to travel with such a cool group who only enhanced the entire experience.I would highly recommend this tour, providing you like swimming, and could not recommend Rhett more highly. What a legend. Rockodile Dundee!

This was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. I went with my sister but there were families with young children, older couples and solo travellers so it is suitable for all. We had an amazing tour guide called Jeremy who was incredibly knowledgeable and obviously very passionate about his job - which made the experience even better. We saw so many outstanding places and different wildlife species, and learning about the aboriginal people and the history of the locations was brilliant.

We went on the 3 day 2 night tour to Kakadu + Lichfield. We had a wonderful time. Our small group consisted of a variety of ages, including two children, who had a great time. There was a short cruise, walking, rock art, a fire at night, lots of swimming in beautiful waterholes, termite mounds and some 4WD driving to get to these wonderful places. The accomodation was in tentlike structures but comfortable. Our guide, Jeremy, was excellent! So full of knowledge, fun and led the group well. My husband + I loved every minute of the trip. We would recommend this trip to anyone.

Very well thought out itinerary and the places we visited were amazing. Our guide Rick communicated the plan for each day very clearly. Accommodation was also better than expected, with actual beds. Highly recommend and do the optional scenic flight if you can - this was probably my favourite thing over the 5 days.

had the most amazing experience you could imagine with this tour group. our Guide was Rick, I can't explain how knowledgeable and experienced this man is in life and skills, prob one of the best drivers I've ever seen. this guy is also as wise as he is skilled. this tour exceeded my expectations. from what I saw and learned from Rick on this tour was exactly what I needed to experience the top end of Australia. legendary bloke. what an adventure it was. the man can cook too and make you laugh at the same time. We had a fantastic experience with Territory Expeditions and couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Rhett. He was knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining throughout the 5 day trip, sharing fascinating stories and insights into the area and its history. Rhett took us to some incredible Aboriginal rock art sites and beautiful swimming holes, making the experience feel both adventurous and personal. U loved the sing along on the first night and great bed time stories. It was a memorable trip from start to finish, and Rhett really made the experience special. We would highly recommend Territory Expeditions to anyone visiting the Top End. 5 Stars to Rhett, a great character and guide.

An excellent adventure throughout the kakadu national park with our amazing tour guide Rhett leading the way.There was something for everyone to enjoy from aboriginal art to swimming in pools of freshwater we enjoyed our time on this trip endlessly. The people we were with where kind and welcoming making it easy to enjoy the outback to its full extent and making lots of new friends.Our tour guide Rhett couldn't have been better telling us amazing stories around the campfire and cracking lots of funny jokes that made us all laugh. He taught us lots about the area and aboriginal culture.Thank you for an amazing trip.

It was a wonderful experience. I did this with my 19 year old son. Everything was well planned, the food was great. All the accommodation was clean. Every site we stayed had electricity and your phone had internet. The tents all had a lamp, fan and a comfy bed. The days were beautiful and picturesque.

Jeremy was an enthusiastic photographer who captured amazing footage of wildlife. He had a keen eye for spotting wildlife everywhere we went, and an extensive knowledge base about everything. Jeremy had excellent communication skills- having conversations with all guests on tour, about a multitude of topics, including sharing his local knowledge about the people, places and wildlife that represent the NT. He was punctual, organised, explicit in his instructions, and safe. Jeremy was a kind, caring, and thoughtful guide, and it was a pleasure getting to know him. I would highly recommend Jeremy as a tour guide.We also had the pleasure of having two trainees: Betty and Simon.Betty was easy-going, extremely knowledgeable about Kakadu and the Dreamtime stories, and could converse with anyone. She had a charming personality, was a lot of fun and enjoyed healthy banter. Betty added a touch of playful fun, inspiring adventure through the NT and fun facts along the way.Simon was adventurous, kind, and charismatic. He had eagle eyes for spotting wildlife. Simon added local knowledge, fun facts about the places and wildlife, and also personal stories to add depth to the tour.Overall, it was a wonderful four-day tour that I would highly recommend if you’re short for time but want to see all the highlights. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Had a lot of fun days in Kakadu and Litchfield with Tour operator Rick. Was a nice guy who could tell nicely and knew a lot about the area. Many animals and beautiful nature seen! Because of the wet season not everything was open but that didn't spoil the fun. The campsites were good where both nights we slept in a big tent on a bed. The campsites were equipped with everything, kitchen, toilet block and swimming pool. Have had a great time!

Our Tour Guide, Rhett, was simply outstanding. It was soon clear that he had a passion for his job! His knowledge was remarkable. We all learnt so much. He was also very supportive and caring. And great fun🙂! It was a very positive and enjoyable experience. My only recommendation is to provide more protein for breakfast and less sugary snacks.

Our tour guide Rick was knowledgeable, fair and ran an organized tour. We could not fault anything other than our own need to bring slightly warmer clothing for night time which were chilly so warm clothes are a must but during the day was perfect. Loved every minute of our tour and wouldn’t change a thing. Thx heaps Rick

Really enjoyed my 5-day tour to the Top End national parks (booked through ATA Tours website). Our guide Rick was an absolute legend, taking excellent care of everyone on board and navigating the park's challenges with ease.I went in late May (beginning of the dry season) so some attractions were still closed -- I knew this going in. Rick made sure we saw the best places that were open, including a wonderful off-the-beaten-path swimming spot.One advantage of this particular tour's itinerary was a visit to Arnhem Land. We had bad luck and couldn't cross the river on the first day, but successfully crossed on the second day! Great example of the value of a multiday tour with a seasoned guide. Unforgettable experience.I'm a wildlife lover and enjoyed seeing crocs and jabirus during our billabong cruise in Mary River. I highly recommend the Kakadu scenic flight, costs extra but worth every penny. Katherine/Nitmiluk and Litchfield were also excellent, but Kakadu is a tough act to follow.The group was a great mix of families, couples, and solo travelers. We had so much fun together!
