Welcome to Utah

The state of Utah is a part of the U.S. Mountain West. It is bordered by Nevada to the west and is bisected by the Wasatch Mountains on the eastern edge of the arid Great Basin region that occupies most of Nevada. The watered valleys on the western Wasatch front are home to 85% of the state’s population. The capital and largest city, Salt Lake City, lies between the mountains and the Great Salt Lake, the largest salt water lake in the Western Hemisphere. Utah is known for world-class skiing, and 4 of the top resorts are in the canyons 20 minutes west of Salt Lake City. Utah also has five national parks including Zion and Canyonlands in the red-rock desert lands of the state’s southeastern region.
