Overview
Hop into a Toyota Land Cruiser with your expert guide and head north from Moab to the backcountry entrance of Arches National Park and avoid the crowds.
Our first stop is to see dinosaur footprints. For millions of years this area was teeming with dinosaurs.
We pass Balanced Rock, one of the most iconic features of the Park, standing a staggering 128 feet. Landscape look familiar? Indiana Jones, and Thelma and Louise have scenes shot here.
The 4X4 trail into the backcounty climbs a short but steep rock wall passing sandstone fins, towering pinnacles and tall spires known as the Marching Men. We stop at Tower Arch for an optional hike.
As you travel along the track, hear informative commentary about the geology, wildlife and history of the park.
We make another stop at Eye of the Whale for an optional hike to a seldom visited slick rock playground named Herdina Park.
After exploring the backcountry we exit past the three gossips and Park Avenue before your guide returns you to Moab.

Chance was awesome. He took us to places that were both spectacular and deserted... He was very knowledgeable and patient with us, and really fine tuned the experience to suit our needs.I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the park.

My husband and I had a great tour with Bronson and two other people. Our guide went out of his way to accommodate the wishes of the group in terms of the sites in the park. He was very knowledgeable about the history and geology of the area, and knew all the tricks to access the various viewpoints. I really appreciated his focus on safety and a good time. I would absolutely book with this company again.

Blaine was our guide and he was awesome! Very knowledgeable of the region and very passionate about the area. If you’re looking for a guide for arches I highly recommend him coming from someone that has lived in Utah their entire lives.
My family is more adventurous so he took us to see tower arch and it was beautiful with a lot of technical off roading!

My wife, older son and I did this trip. Ron was our guide. He did a great job getting us into backcountry to see dinosaur tracks and hikes to arches. Also gave us history of the park and information about places to see and hikes to do on our own when we were going back in later. At start he gave us options based on what we wanted to see. He answered all of our questions and allowed us plenty of time at stops to enjoy. The trip was great and highly recommend NAVTEC and Ron.

We had a great time touring the backcountry of Arches and Canyonlands National Park on this 4x4 tour. Visited Canyonlands in the morning and took the Shafer Trail up to the rim top. In the afternoon we toured some hard to get to places in Arches. The tour guide Josh was very knowledgeable of the area and a great driver. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a great adventure.

My 8 year old son and I did an afternoon trip with Tristan in late November to Arches. It was truly one of the best days we’ve had in recent memory and one of our favorite adventures in Moab. Tristan was incredibly patient and gracious with my 8 year old’s barrage of questions and jokes, and he did a fantastic job engaging my kid in the amazing nature and beauty of Arches. The trip was educational and fun, and never once did we feel rushed. We loved the dinosaur tracks and the short hikes to Eye of the Whale and Skyline arches. My California kid was fascinated by all of the patches of snow throughout the park and the pockets of ice in the shadow of the arches. Tristan matched my son’s enthusiasm with kindness and positive energy, even helping him to find a patch of ice he could crack at the end of the trip. My kid generally hates long car rides, but Tristan’s friendly banter and sharing of his wide scientific knowledge made the entire day a blast. My eight year old literally skipped to Tristan’s jeep at the end of the day because he was having so much fun.Tristan made great recommendations that we followed up on during the subsequent days of our visit: In addition to checking out Lin Ottinger’s impressive Moab Rock Shop for the free dinosaur bone and sliding down the massive red sand dunes across from the park, we went back to Arches on our own to do the Landscape Arch trail and to check out the windows sections. We also went back to the beautiful La Sal Mountains viewpoint at sunset. All of these were great recommendations from Tristan.Arches is easy to drive through on your own to see many spectacular sites, but we are so glad we started our visit off-roading through the back entrance with Tristan. We loved the silence (even hearing the beating of a raven’s wings!) and experiencing the park without the crowds. We also learned so much from our afternoon with Tristan that gave us helpful perspectives for the rest of our time in Moab! I would heartily recommend this tour with Navtec, and if you have kids, definitely ask for Tristan. We couldn’t have asked for a kinder, more patient guide! (Tristan, if you read this, don’t miss Point Lobos State Park for the amazing lichen if you make it out to California again!) Thank you from a grateful mom!
