Cristian and his daughter Elizabeth made the sight seeing memorable for the whole group. They gave enough time on all spots including driving us to a local fish market and lunch there after. They even gave us an extra hour. Thanks to both for our great experience in Mazatlan

Amazing family run business. Very communicative amidst craziness of cruise ship port busy-ness. Weaved in doing what we wanted to do, as well as showing us Mazatlan. Highly recommend.

Our tour guide David took us an hour drive outside of Mazatlan to the cutest town, el Quelite. Here we learned about day of the dead traditions, had a tour of a local bakery, made salsa and tortillas, and wandered the town. David was the best tour guide for us. He was friendly and informative, he was happy to go with the flow and do whatever worked best for us. This was the highlight of our cruise to Mexico. All 10 of us want to come back to El Quelite. One thing to note is make sure you bring pesos, that far out of the tourist track they didn't all take credit cards or US money.

Months before our cruise to Mazatlán I booked the Flavor Teller “Seafood Secrets” tour. It sounded like a perfect excursion for our day in port and I liked it even more because it had limited walking. (I recently had knee surgery.) A few days before our cruise, we were notified that our itinerary had been completely changed and now instead of a Friday, we were to be in Mazatlán on Thursday. The Seafood Secrets tour was not offered on that day so we had to cancel. Our money was refunded immediately, but we were left without a tour.I checked online and the only Flavor Teller tour offered on Thursday was the Barrio Bites tour…and it was full. I was so disappointed but decided to send an email and ask if a second tour “might” be offered. Within a couple of hours, the owner, Maaike, replied that she would add a tour just to accommodate our group of four!Spending the day with Maaike felt like being with an old friend. She was full of information about local food and also the area in general. We could tell she had a wonderful working relationship with the food vendors at each stop. Luis, another guide, also came along for the day and he and my husband had a great time talking about their love of bikes!Our group has traveled a great deal and at the end of the day we all agreed Barrio Bites was one of the best tours we have ever taken. In most cases, the servings were far bigger than just samples and everything was so delicious. We would have never discovered the places we ate on our own and by the end of the day we felt like locals! Transportation to each of the seven stops in the tour was provided in an Auriga taxi which made the tour so much more enjoyable for me and my bad knee! Although this was our first visit to Mazatlán, I would love to return and take one of the other Flavor Teller tours!

Learn about the history of the town and the market before trying some local dishes I never would have encountered on my own. A really great afternoon and way to absorb some local culture!

My husband and I took this small group tour and had a really nice time. Our tour guide, Paola, was super knowledgeable about Mazatlan history and we got to see some places tourists don't get to go to, for example the shrimp boats and open shrimp market. You can tell she has a love for Mazatlan as well as a love for cooking/food. We didn’t do any touristy places, all local. Definitely recommend.

I had an incredible tour with Paola. 11/10, book with her/Tomatl immediately! I will definitely be taking this same tour again next time I’m in Mazatlán.Paola took us to several fantastic taco spots I never would have discovered on my own. As a professional chef, she has a great passion for food, and she taught me so much throughout the day. Beyond the culinary experience, she shared fascinating insights into the history and local culture of the city. I walked away with so much new information and loved every minute of it. Had been to Mazatlan previously and did a few tourist things. Wanted to try something a bit different. This was just perfect. Gives you some history of Mazatlan as walking through the streets and some great eats at the market. We would have never tried this food our own. And boy was it fantastic. As was our guide Luis!! Very knowledgeable, kind and will answer any questions you may have. The small group setting is really nice. Also to mention my husband has a gluten allergy, i emailed first and it could be accommodated. We did ask at each meal just to be extra cautious and it was all good! We actually went back a couple days later and had lunch at the market. Also took some to go smoked Marlin! Yummy!! This is a 3 hour tour we took a didi ( like uber so cost effective) from our hotel. I would highly recommend doing this!

This was our favorite experience of our entire Mexican Riviera trip. The tour was the perfect mix of incredible local food, history, and exploring Mazatlán.Our guide Paola was amazing. She shared the history of the city along the way and took us to some of the best local food spots we would never have found on our own.We tried so many delicious things including manta ray stew, birria, tacos, Pacifico beer, and ice cream—everything was authentic, local, and absolutely delicious.We also stopped at several landmarks along the way, which made the tour feel like both a food experience and a way to really learn about Mazatlán.We left completely full of amazing food and new knowledge about the city.If you're visiting Mazatlán, this tour is a MUST DO. And if you can, ask for Paola—she made the experience unforgettable.

Jose gave my husband and me a wonderful tour of the area around the cathedral, the nearby San Jose church as well as the cathedral itself. He was delightful to be with, had a lot of good information on the history of the region and Mazatlan today. He went above and beyond our expectations, arranging a visit to the cathedral organ (my husband is an organist). Unfortunately, it was beyond repair. We enjoyed our tour so much that we took a different tour with him the following week. Highly recommended!

Great food! 4 totally different kinds of taco places, each with with Paola’s historical explanation and authenticity of the food. We had shrimp, beef, pork and chicken. Each looked different and were delicious. I, personally, only eat chicken and fish, but I did have a taste of the other two—couldn’t miss the experience. We finished the tour with a mezcal and tequila tasting at a really classy and historical bar. Paola is a wonderful guide. She does cooking classes as well. We plan to book one of those next time.

David was amazing! He let us take as much time as we needed at each spot and explained everything clearly. He was personable and just an all around nice guy. The van was AMAZING. So roomy and comfortable. I would pay double just for the vehicle they used. And lunch was delicious. I would highly recommend this tour without any reservations.

Tour was great! Guide was knowledgeable and interactive. Van was clean, AC was nice in the heat/humidity. Water and soda was available in the van. The tequila distillery was remote, beautiful, and well run. The staff there was so nice. There was also agave, local woodworking and art available. The town was small and we were there at siesta, but it was neat to see. Traffic in/out if the port was awful but the guide did well maneuvering and we were back to our ship on time. Would recommend and would do again.
