Romania is a beautiful country. This is a wonderful way to experience it's beauty! Petruț (Pedro) was a wonderful guide! He kept us laughing and answered all of our questions eagerly! If he was unsure of an answer he would research and find out. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch along the way that had a great variety of delicious food. He was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide and companion for the day. I absolutely loved all of the attractions! I do have one complaint but it is not about our guide or Cool Destinations. I was a little disappointed with the choice of music playing at Poenari Citadel. It is my own opinion of course but the music was very distracting to the experience. I still enjoyed it though so very much and just tuned it out. Târgoviște & Snagov Monastery were both absolutely incredible as well! (No hokey music playing. Lol) Over all 5 star and our guide was fantastic!

It was our first time in Romania and we wanted to see Vlad the Impalers real castle which is Poenari. Our guide and driver Pedro arrived at our hotel on time and took us to the castle and accompanied us up the 1480 steps. The views from the top were beautiful and the castle ruins were astonishing to see. Pedro then took us to view the dam and explained how it worked. Then we headed to the old capital Targoviste for a yummy lunch break and we walked it off at the Royal Court. Ended the day with a quick stop at Snagov monastery before we headed back to Bucharest. It was a long day in the car but Pedro had such a positive attitude and fun personality. This experience was well worth it. Thanks Pedro!

We had an awesome day with Pedro! It was fun exploring Vlad’s real castle, with great views from the top. Vidraru Dam was impressive and the lake gorgeous. We saw several bears and had a lovely lunch in the mountains.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. Beginning with the communications with Marian, questions answered quickly and we were given a lot of insight into what we could expect. Our guide, Mihai was incredible. Very knowledgeable, and willing to share his love of Romania. And a great sense of humor. The lodgings were wonderful, even the ones without dogs. And the meals prepared by the owners of these remote guesthouses were fabulous. The hiking itself was through some very beautiful countryside, from villages to peaks with incredible views. Just hard enough to be challenging at times, but all the time needed to take it in and take pictures. We could not be more grateful.Kevin

This is a long day but an incredible one to 2 awe inspiring sites. Pedro picked us up on time from our hotel and was very friendly and easy to talk to. His English is excellent. The first stop was the Salt Mines and we had never seen anything like it. It is magnificent. We then had a good lunch with Pedro suggesting local foods we may enjoy, and we did. The Muddy Volcanoes were a naturally occurring phenomenon and very much how you imagine the surface of the moon would be like. Pedro make a video of the site for me using my phone as I’m not great with technology. We had a wonderful day. Thank you.

Claudiu was a phenomenal guide; he was knowledgeable, kind and patient! I had limited time in the region, so it was great to see another country without personally worrying about the transport, especially going to more remote places. Highly highly recommend!!

We had a great day in Bulgaria with our engaging guide Claudiu. Totally worth the drive back and forth from Bucharest to see fascinating stone architecture, picturesque waterfalls and several really cool caves. Claudiu was accommodating and informative and let us go at our own pace. Highly recommend!

Great experience in the Carpathians with a tour guide that not only organizes the trip and makes sure everything is done safely, but also tells you the stories of the places you visit, with a spice of local legends and folklore.

Victor was one of if not the best guides I have ever encountered. He made the trip outstanding and no one could achieve the level which she performed in making our day one of the best.

An amazing experience rapelling down not 1, but 11 dry waterfalls . The guides were super concerned with our safety and funny which allowed us to fully enjoy the experience. I highly recommend GreenAdventure as I for one, will for sure try more of their activities! Thank you, Catalin!

The Abandoned and Haunted Military Base Tour was one of the most fascinating and atmospheric experiences I've ever had. I went in expecting a few spooky stories and crumbling buildings—but what I got was a hauntingly beautiful journey through history, mystery, and decay that stayed with me long after it ended.The guide struck the perfect balance between storytelling and historical context, giving life to the eerie silence of the base without relying on gimmicks or clichés. Walking through overgrown barracks, rusted towers, and pitch-dark tunnels, I felt both the weight of forgotten stories and the strange peace that comes from places left to nature and memory. Whether or not you believe in ghosts, there’s something undeniably powerful about standing in a place where time has stood still.This tour wasn’t just about chills—it was about atmosphere, imagination, and connecting with a past that still lingers in the air. I appreciated how respectful the experience was—no jump scares, no theatrics—just an honest, immersive look at a site full of layers.If you enjoy off-the-beaten-path travel, abandoned architecture, or moody, cinematic environments, this tour is a must. It’s haunting in the best possible way.

As a couple, we have a shared interest in military history. We have been to several privately owned and government owned locations in our search of history world-wide. Many had restricted areas or limit how close you can get to the actual history…Not this place.We were picked up by Catalin in downtown Bucharest (right on time, I might add). He drove us about 45 minutes (give or take, depending on traffic) to Chitila Fort (Fortila #1 - Chitila), one of 18 abandoned World War I Bucharest fortifications encircling the city. During the trip, Catalin provided an overview of what we could expect to see.Upon arrival, Catalin showed us a map of the area, and verified we were prepared for the tour. Why? Because this is not a pristine, well maintained exhibit…This is truly an abandoned military fortress. Though hazards are minimal with a guide such as Catalin, you should wear sturdy footwear, come with a bit of water (unless you are with Catalin, who was very prepared for our comfort) and possibly a light jacket or sweatshirt if you cannot handle 16° - 20° (61° F - 68° F). If you think about it, bring a flashlight (lantern, torch or lamp), though Catalin had us covered with a couple of headlamps to use. The terrain is uneven with the occasional obstacle to climb over. Your footwear may be a little soiled, so do not wear your high-end street shoes.The virtually complete access to the fortress was awesome. With a guide like Catalin, you will not have any problems finding your way though. He was very knowledgeable of the past military and recent uses of the facility.We HIGHLY recommend this tour and Catalin! We had a great time!However, if you are one of those who cannot put your cellular telephone down or have to be online 7/24 (cellular service is not available in such a facility), cannot climb over a hip-height wall, are scared of the dark, or cannot brush by a bush, you might want to just go shopping instead.
