Top Brazil Climbing

Did the Via Ferrata route on Sugarloaf with guide Fernando. If you try this route, strongly recommend going with a good guide as there are some tricky sections and I was happy to be the second on Fernando’s solid lead. Overall experience was great and the views were amazing.

Doing the "sugarloaf scramble" with Mingo was the highlight of our trip to Brazil! It's evident from the moment you meet him that he's a very experienced climber, a helpful guide, and an incredibly nice guy. This was our first time ever "climbing" (it was only a very short portion) and it was the perfect way to experience it. I would definitely agree with the description that you should be reasonably athletic if you want to do this, and I would also add that you should be comfortable with (or comfortable facing your fear of ) heights and exposure. If you're able to do it, it's a once in a lifetime experience!

The hike was no joke — definitely not for the faint-hearted — but Igor stayed calm, supportive, and made the whole journey feel safe. Once you find your rhythm on the trail, it becomes more manageable mentally. The rope climbing section was the highlight for me — being harnessed in Lol. Highly, highly recommend this to anyone looking for something different and genuinely rewarding. Way more than just a touristy activity — this was the real deal.

Fernando was awesome, very professional but also kind and reassuring. His English was perfect et he took amazing photos during the climb ! A big thank to all the team ☺️

Andrew was a great guide. Throughout tne entire hike and the small climbing section, he maintained a safe situation. And he shared his fun personality, too. A higlight of this hike/climb was seeing landscapes/vistas that you otherwise would miss anywhere else in the city. If I return to Rio, I would do many more climbing experiences with him in the area.You don’t NEED prior climbing or hiking experience, but it sure does help. IF you are afraid of heights or do not like “the outdoors”, then this is not the experience for you

Climbing in Rio de Janeiro with Mingo and Andrew was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that far exceeded my expectations. Over the course of the trip, we tackled some of Brazil’s most iconic peaks—including Sugarloaf Mountain, Corcovado, Dedo de Deus, and Pico Maior—and each climb offered something uniquely spectacular.Starting with Sugarloaf, the granite face rising straight out of the ocean was both scenic and exhilarating. Climbing up with views of Rio's coastline and the city below was surreal. The climb up Corcovado, home to the famous Christ the Redeemer statue, was equally awe-inspiring—combining natural beauty with cultural significance in the most incredible way.And then came the big alpine objectives—Dedo de Deus and Pico Maior in the Serra dos Órgãos. These climbs were more technical and demanding, but thanks to Mingo and Andrew’s expert guidance, I felt safe, supported, and fully in the moment. Reaching the summit of Dedo de Deus, a dramatic needle piercing the sky, was one of the most rewarding feelings I’ve ever had. And standing atop Pico Maior, the highest peak in the range, was nothing short of epic—the views were absolutely jaw-dropping.Mingo and Andrew were exceptional guides: knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their attention to safety, encouragement, and deep understanding of the terrain made this trip both challenging and incredibly fulfilling.If you're a climber heading to Brazil, this experience is a must. From coastal crags to alpine summits, this adventure gave me everything I hoped for and more. I’ll never forget it.

Best way to experience Sugarloaf if you enjoy the outdoors and/or rock climbing and hiking. I did the middle Coringa route which was honestly tougher than any climb I’ve done before as an experienced beginner to somewhat intermediate climber, but one who hasn’t climbed with ropes in several years and is a bit out of shape. My guide was extremely helpful with a refresher on belaying and safety, helped keep me going, and was patient when I was slow in several places. The views are gorgeous all along the way and I loved the variation you get with multi-pitch rock climbing, slabs, rock scramble, and regular hiking. All the gear I needed was provided which was so nice. Definitely bring bug spray as the mosquitoes were out in full force. I would also make sure you bring no less than 1L of water and then there’s cold filtered water at the top you can refill for free by the bathrooms. Getting down by the tram is easy and so worth it after the long climb up. Met up with my guide at a nearby restaurant around 1pm and made it up to the very top by 4pm with plenty of breaks throughout. Highly recommend this experience!

We loved our guide! Very attentive and helpful. Hike was harder than expected/described, but happy we did it! Bring your best hiking shoes.

The climbing tour was awesome. Well organized and prepared for the climb. I got proper instructions and we practiced in front of the best view of the beach and the sugarloaf mountain. I loved it

Our guide was very considerate with my wife who was not used to steep while, and a little dizzy. The hike is very nice, the team very professional. I recommend without hesitation!
