Pompeii was destroyed and completely buried, during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Vesuvius which extended for two days in 79 AD. The volcano collapsed the tallest roof tiles and buried Pompeii under 25 feet of ash and pumice, and was lost for nearly 1700 years before its chance rediscovery in 1748. Since then, its excavations have provided extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire
You will visit the ruins of Herculaneum for 2 hour with guide
Herculaneum was founded by the Oschi, an Italic tribe of the eighth century BC, and later became part of the Etruscan and Samnite dominions. Under the control of the Romans, the city was a renowned seaside resort where some of the wealthiest Roman citizens spent their summer holidays
You will visit the Cantina del Vesuvio on the slopes of Mont Vesuvius and you will taste the food and wine specialties of the Campania region
