We had an incredible time at Caseificio Starace. We ended up having a bit of experience getting lost on the way and getting there as we had the wrong address (was not listed correctly on Apple Maps), but Angela was amazing and came to the spot we were and picked us up where we were! Seriously grateful to her and Antonio's grace and care, not just during the tour but to help us out when we were lost on the way!The experience itself was great! Angela showed us how their cheese was made and how every part of the process (the whey, cream, etc...) is used. We got to mold and make cheese, and the lovely cheese tasting afterwards in their garden was incredible. You might fine other mozzarella experiences, but the homestyle feel of our time there was incredible! Thank you guys!

My teenaged son, spouse, and I had a great time watching how mozzarella is made, shaping it, and then tasting it along with other local foods. We learned that Starace is one of only two that doesn't use chemicals to speed up the process of cheesemaking so it's much slower and more traditional. We also learned that the weather in different parts of Italy affects what cheeses can be made in those locations. Our hosts were wonderful, and it was great to see a family business still going strong after generations. We originally were going to go to another dairy, but that one seemed quite disorganized. We were all glad it worked out to come to Starace instead.

We booked the Fresco Workshop for 2 people and had a wonderful time! Aerma and her husband Attilio were very kind and welcoming. Their dog is so friendly and cute! We were able to tour Aerma’s studio to see her artwork and they also shared pieces and stories of their family’s history and legacy in Sorrento. We even got a copy of her novel (perfect for reading on the trains or ferries as you travel around Italy)! Aerma walked us through the history and chemistry behind making frescos and her inspiration to learn ancient techniques. They had a gorgeous (shaded - much appreciated for the summer heat!) outdoor set-up for us to work in with a beautiful view of the town and Mt. Vesuvius. We had aperitivos and fun conversation about travel. We learned so much about ancient techniques and she was very patient and hands-on in helping us apply the techniques. There was a large book of different reference pictures to choose from. I have taken art classes before and this is one of the best experiences I have had. We each finished our frescos and were very happy with the results. Aerma and Attilio gave us advice on using the train system which was also helpful for navigating to and from where we were staying (in a different city). They provided boxes to protect the frescos and we were able to layer clothes around them and they made it home in the check-in suitcase in great condition! We were very happy to have this unique experience and definitely recommend to anyone visiting near Pompeii or the Amalfi Coast!

this was a fantastic painting course, we got an insight into how painting techniques were used in the past. very exciting and the instructor/artist had great knowledge of the subject and taught us techniques. we painted in their idyllic houses with fantastic views. highly recommend. could not resist buying one of her paintings, very talented!

I really loved this class! Antonio was a great teacher and very personable. He taught me about his third-generation family business. He walked me through the steps of making mozzarella, showing the process in his facility. I can’t wait to try making mozzarella at home :)

The nicest people. Very authentic experience at a generations old family business. We made our own mozzarella and then had a tasting. We loved it and recommend it highly.

This is such an amazing experience. The artist welcomes you into her home and after a short tour of her work/studio and explanation of the type of art you will doing and she does. You go up to the rooftop to create your art. In our group we had my daughters, the artist was so attentive to them and encouraging with the girls. She helped with them with their work when they got discouraged. This was such a wonderful way to expose my children to a new form of art but for them to learn about ancient art before going to Pompeii. The artist and her husband were so welcoming and friendly. After we completed our art work we sat and had some antipasto and drinks. We had a lovely chat for a while. After our art dried we went to see her art show. This was such an amazing experience and we enjoyed every moment of it. We would recommend it. The children thought it was such a special moment.

Angela and Antonio were lovely hosts for our morning at Caseificio Starace. We were able to park in the driveway, which took away the headache of finding parking. Loved seeing the authentic cheese making experience. Our meal on the patio with red wine, salami, bread and multiple fresh cheese and butter was stellar. Antonio made an elephant and a pig for our kids, which they were astounded by! Appreciated hearing the stories and traditions from this fifth generation family-run business. My only surprise was that we only spent about 5 minutes ourselves working with the cheese (the 4 of us forming our own balls, 1 of us making a flat pizza shape, 1 of us stretching one piece). In previous cheese making classes we have been involved at every step (cutting, stirring, stretching, forming, etc.) so I would classify this as more of an observation class than a hands-on class. Still a memorable experience and I would recommend!

What a truly wonderful experience! Angela and Antonio are not only incredibly talented cheese makers, but also absolutely adorable — and unintentionally hilarious — together. If you’re looking for an experience that’s authentic, delicious, heartwarming, and fun, this is an absolute must-do. Five stars aren’t enough. We loved it!

Andrea and Antonio are knowledgeable, skilled, and simply fun hosts. They kindly held a class for me even though I was the only one registered and made me feel right at home. They were patient with my many questions as a food and agriculture nerd and spared no fascinating detail about their cheese operation. Vico equense is also very charming and easy to travel to from Napoli. Would definitely recommend this class to anyone visiting the area!

Just a lovely morning in the hills up from Vico Equense. Antonio & Angela are a lovely couple and magnificent hosts. Treat yourself! Relax. Live in the moment. Learn (hands on) how to make mozzarella. The grounds and gardens are wonderful. Visit the shop after you have an incredible meal.

Top experience. Super sweet people. You can get started yourself and then you can sit down at the table to taste everything. Everything is artisanal. Highly recommended.
