Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the Florida Keys with an unforgettable after-dark kayak adventure. As you glide out to sea, past mangrove forests and Kalteux Key, you will enjoy the vibrant hues of the setting sun reflected against the ocean's surface.
As dusk turns to night, your tour guide will attach LED lights to the bottom of your kayak, creating a mesmerizing glow that illuminates the water beneath you. You will glide past a variety of marine life as you "glow" through the calm waters. Your tour guide is a knowledgeable expert on the local ecosystem and the unique behaviors of the nocturnal sea creatures.
As you make your way back to the marina, you will pass through the canal of one of Islamorada's charming neighborhoods where underwater lights create the enchanting illusion of an underwater parade, adding an extra layer of wonder to your experience.

What To Expect
Kayakers will board their kayaks just prior to sunset, departing the marina towards the ocean just as the sun begins to create gradients of pink and orange in the sky. As you turn north into Tavernier Creek, you will definitely spot some of the Florida Key's stunning wildlife. You may even glide past a grazing manatee. After some paddling, you'll find yourself near the entrance of a thick mangrove forest; your tour guide will help you navigate through a narrow channel in the trees, highlighting various features of the natural ecosystem as you continue. Once dark enough, your tour guide will equip your kayak with a battery-powered LED light that illuminates the water below you. The light is typically green, enabling the greatest visibility for you while minimizing any input on marine life. Embrace the surreal experience as you continue to navigate the calm waters with the magical light glowing all around you. As you return to the marina, you'll also enjoy multi-colored lights in the man-made canal, turning your kayak tour into a dazzling night-parade.

The maximum weight capacity for kayaking is 340 lbs / 154 kg.
Nov 2021No experience is necessary! Beginners are welcome on all of our kayak tours. Most of our guests have never been in a sea kayak before. Anyone in average physical condition may join a kayak tour. If you can hike or bike, you can paddle our sea kayaks. You do not need any swimming skills either.
The only prerequisite is a healthy spirit of curiosity and adventure.
Regardless of age or skill level you will find that our expeditions offer enough flexibility to make your experience with us safe and rewarding. We will show you proper sea kayaking technique and water safety before leaving the beach. And your expert guides will be with you throughout the adventure to give you pointers and improve your skills.
Sep 2022Your safety is Cool Destinations’s number one concern. In general, sea kayaking is safer than most other outdoor pursuits, even bicycling.
Jan 2023If you have any doubts about becoming seasick on the water, we recommend taking a Dramamine® Motion Sickness Relief tablet the night before your trip. Some people recommend taking it the night before your cruise and then again that morning so you will not feel so drowsy.
Feb 2023- For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the tour start time.
- If you cancel less than 24 hours before the tour start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
