Top Zihuatanejo Walking Tours

We had a great time learning from Francisco aka Paco aka Pancho. He is an expert on the archaeology and history of the site. As a lover of ancient cultures, it was nice to learn some new info. We had a delicious lunch near the site. Highly recommended

Come hungry you are going to try a lot of food. The guide was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed meeting the people at the food stands and resturants overall an amazing tour.

Much walking on uneven surfaces. Great food with lots of meats. Tour of the market where he explained all the different types of foods. Our guide Francisco was excellent. Very pleasant, great English, very knowledgeable on food, history of the area and more. I would recommend this tour.

My wife and I were in Zihua for the first time February 22 to March 4, 2026. We are not big on tours, but felt it was easier in this situation. We booked it for Friday, February 27. A few days prior, there was the killing of the cartel drug lord by the Mexican army, so the larger area of Mexico was on high alert for potential retaliation. Possibly many tourists were afraid to venture out, because our tour guide Pablo, arrived at our hotel at 7:50 AM with a small car. My wife and I received a private tour for just the two of us. The approximately 6 hours we spent with Pablo, was very personable, friendly and super informative. It was so much better than I had imagined -like riding around in a van of 15-20 people, being herded here and there. This tour was like visiting a good friend with gracious hospitality. The car ride was scenic and fun with great conversation, We went to the museum, the games court, the pyramid, spoke with an Aztec dancer who also performed for us and we drove through the village of Xihuacan populated by 400 people living off the land. Then a fantastic lunch by a truly local family with authentic food. I had a wonderful fresh fish lunch. Then Pablo obligingly took us to a great coffee shop at our request. Probably the best tour we have ever had. Thank you so much Pablo, and warm regards to you and your family. This is a fantastic tour company.

Excellent food tour with Francisco! He took us deep into the market to try truly unique dishes. His knowledge of the different cuisines was really amazing. Don’t miss this food tour!

This food tour was such a standout experience. Every stop felt incredibly authentic, with dishes that were not only delicious but clearly rooted in generations-old recipes and traditions. You could really taste the history in the food. One of the highlights was actually meeting the proprietors at several of the stops and hearing their personal stories as well as food preparation methods firsthand. It added a personal layer to the experience that you just don’t get otherwise. Since the tour, I mentioned relleno de puerco to a MX native friend and he was impressed that we tried it and learned a lot about the transitional preparation. We brought our kids (ages 9 and 12), and they absolutely loved it. Francisco was attentive to our child’s allergies and made sure she had a safe and outstanding experience, which we really appreciated. What we loved most was that many of the places we visited are spots we likely never would have found—or even thought to try—as tourists. Now we have a whole list of places we can’t wait to go back to for amazing meals.Francisco is fun to hang out with and he did a great job sharing the stories behind the food and the families, which made the experience feel much more meaningful than just a tasting tour. It was relaxed, flavorful, and full of great discoveries. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to experience the real local food scene.

If I could give this 10 stars I would. It was really good! Our guide was extremely informative and so kind. I would recommend bringing some pesos along to buy coffee as we stop at a little coffee hut and also for tipping after our lunch.

I enjoyed the tour very much. Francisco was very knowledgeable and friendly. Lunch at a local restaurant was a nice treat. On a hot day, I would suggest going to the pyramid first and the museum second. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a great experience once again, when we teamed up with our wonderful guide Francisco. Francisco is so knowledgeable and so friendly that any tour we’ve taken with him has been terrific. We sampled several delightful dishes at many different family owned places. Delicious! We highly recommend.

Great tour Francisco was a wonderful guide. Lots of great info about Zihuatanejo and so much amazing food. Definitely go real hungry. We were so full after the tour. You will learn about many great places to eat and how to be safe picking them. Thanks Francisco!!

Francisco was wonderful! He took us on an amazing gastronomic tour of the Mexican culture and history. We truly enjoyed the experience and would do it again in a heartbeat! So much food! If I could ask for anything more it would be a nice cold water to wash it down with. See you again!

We learned a lot from our guide, Francisco. We especially learned about the culture of the people in the area in Zihuatanejo . It was very educational and the food was good. The Carnitas close to the end of our tour were especially delicious.

Francisco shared his pride and passion for authentic Mexican cuisine in this walking and tasting tour of historical Zihua. Arrive with an appetite! Highly recommended!

We visited the Xihuacan museum and ruins on a privately guided tour arranged through our resorts tour department. The museum is very well laid out and informative with many items on display to show the rich history of the area. Our tour guide, Charlie, was very well spoken and versed in the English language and provided insight into the local area as well as the historic ruins. Can’t wait to visit the area again after further exploration has uncovered more of the ruins!

This was an informative, fun and delicious tour. Francisco was a wonderful guide with a lot of knowledge about the history and culture of the area. We ate lots of good food and were ready for a nap when it was over! Highly recommend taking this tour early on in your trip so you can learn about some great spots to eat in Zihua.

Great experience for people interested in learning about - and sampling - traditional Mexican foods. Our guide, Francisco, was both friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to several, mostly family-run food stalls in the market as well as a couple of small restaurants. Two recommendations: 1) Come on this tour with a good appetite as there is lots of delicious food to try; 2). Wear comfortable footwear and be prepared for some walking between stops on very uneven sidewalks and roadways.
