Zihuatanejo Travel Guides (Updated September 2026)

This was a fabulous tour way beyond our expectations!! We were a party of 7 adults and everyone loved it. Some who had done sea turtle releases other places said this was better. Our guide, Pablo, was super informed and answered all our questions. Mr. Felix, his son-in-law, Omar, & wife and daughter are doing such great work. As of Sept 23, 2026, they had rescued 1,408 turtle nests this year. Nests can average 70+ turtles each. That is a lot of saved turtles. The baby sea turtles are SO cute. That day we released 151 turtles after digging them out of their nests. I would highly recommend this tour!!

We absolutely loved this turtle release tour. Luis taught us about the different kinds of turtles, then we each took five babies from the nest and got to interact with them until they were alert enough to be released into the ocean. One of my highlights from the week!

A highly recommended hike up the hill, safe and attractive, very beautiful views of cliffs towards the sea, the Tiger Cave formation is impressive, the guide Alejandro is very prepared, attentive and reliable, I highly recommend the experience.

Are first day started with Super FABS picking us up at our hotel gate. He is very knowledgeable about the culture, history, food and current activities. FABS sugged we come back to the basketball court on Sunday to catch traditional dancing and entertainment. We visited Ixtapa first, seeing the exclusive condos, private all inclusive hotels at Playa Linda Beach, we saw the alligators at the TAMAKUN sanctuary. FABS showed us were visitors were getting on boats to go to an island for snorkeling. Next We did the walking tour to local shops because I wanted souvenirs for my girls, then we went to a food stall and had delicious tacos and quesadeas. We stopped by a pastry stall with amazing pastries. Our final stop was a local restaurant for fresh seafood tacos. This tour was the highlight of our stay. FABS listened to us regarding dietary needs and made us feel very welcomed. I highly recommended taking this tour if you really want the true flavor of Zihuantanejo.

The kayak tour in the lagoon was a great experience; we were able to observe several types of birds, pass through some beautiful mangroves, and see the sunrise.The guide knew a lot about the place and the birds, so it was pleasant and safe to take this tour; the experience is truly unique and unforgettable.Thank you!!! I would do a tour with this company again.

Jose was a great tour guide. He picked us up at our hotel and took us to the boat dock to take a water taxi to Ixatpa island. There we snorkeled and had lunch. The water on the side of the island we snorkeled was rough so be aware. The restaurant side of the island was calmer and a nice cove to swim.

As if that wasn't enough, we stopped at a roadside bakery on the way back. Seeing fresh empanadas and breads pulled straight from a large clay oven was unforgettable—we bought one of everything and enjoyed a delicious feast on the ride home. Ketavi Tours gave us an anniversary celebration we will cherish forever. Don't hesitate to book them!

To celebrate our 25th anniversary, my wife and I decided to book a day trip with Ketavi Tours, and we had an absolutely wonderful day. Our guides—Ulysses, Benjamin, and Orion—were phenomenal. They brought the region to life with their local stories and incredible knowledge, welcoming us with a warmth that instantly made us feel like family.The day was a seamless blend of culture and nature. We loved the traditional lunch served at a private residence high in the mountains, where my wife got a hands-on lesson in making authentic tortillas. The food was spectacular! From there, we explored the Sierra de Guerrero, trekking through beautiful pine and oak forests to reach the spectacular Mesas de Bravo Waterfalls.As if that wasn't enough, we stopped at a roadside bakery on the way back. Perfect birding tour for those approaching their 30's! And all ages :) The tour picks you up at your accommodations before the day gets too hot. They provide binoculars, snacks, and water. Alejandro was a friendly, knowledgeable guide who took photos on his fancy camera of all the birds we spotted and sent them to us later. He knew and could whistle the calls of the birds, could distinguish the appearance of males/females/juveniles, listed off the common English and Spanish names and the Latin names, and topped it off with knowledge about local plants and insects as well. As beginner birders, my husband and I were so impressed and were particularly awed by the cluster of nesting storks and spoonbills that capped off the tour. It's the end of May, so make sure you book your tour around this time if you want to see the baby birds. Such a unique and fun experience for your vacation!! Thanks Alejandro!!

You get a little bite of a city tour with on the way over to get the boat to the island, really enjoyed it.

The textile and chocolate and coconut tour was truly amazing. It was the ultimate in agro-tourism. We helped pick cotton for weaving, pick squash blossoms for quesadillas, and best of all make a delicious cold chocolate drink with an indigenous family. Way off the beaten path and way cool! Don’t miss this!
