A Perfect Day
David was an exceptional guide. Our six hours with him flew by. He took us to all of the major sites in the Lake District and a number rarely seen by tourists. And there were surprises along the way - - such as the unexpected ferry ride to Bowness. He was very friendly and affable and matched our pace. Most importantly, he was incredibly knowledgeable. We learned so much. If we ever return to the Lake District, I would hire him again without hesitation. We ended the day feeling like we were old friends.

We came to the Lake Districts specifically to do this tour on our way down from Edinburgh to London. Tim collected us from the station at Windermere, put our luggage in the back and off we went. This place is stunningly beautiful and we lucked out by being here when it is quieter which was a nice surprise. I can't remember all of the spots we visited but the stone circle at Castlerigg, Ashness Bridge and Surprise view were outstanding. It was a still afternoon so the lakes were like a glass and Ullswater, Derwentwater, Rydal water, Windermere and Grasmere were so beautiful. Tim told us all about the history of the area and was very friendly and fun. We finished the afternoon buying gingerbread which was delicious and Tim kindly agreed to join us for a coffee when he dropped us off at Linthwaite House. Such a relaxing afternoon after the crowds in Edinburgh.

We had a lovely time, our guide was wonderful and so knowledgable. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were great stops all along the way. Only issue was the pick-up in Bowness, we arrived a few minutes before our departure time but the van had come by 5 minutes early and picked someone else up. It was rectified, we were picked up and enjoyed the day.

The morning 8-Lakes minibus tour was a relaxed, interactive delight, enhanced by Gillian's depth of knowledge and Sandra's expert driving around narrow lanes (and hosts of cyclists !). In four hours we gained not just knowledge, but a sense of the distinctive lifestyle that the terrain imposes on its inhabitants, not least the compromise between the tourism essential for local employment and the area's magnificent nature, which pleads for our constant respect. Fabulous tour, Hill Top is a gorgeous place to visit and we had plenty of time to explore the house and the village. Dave our guide was excellent, full of knowledge and a love for Beatrix which made all the difference! All the stops were beautiful (despite us having rainy weather) would absolutely recommend!!
