★★★★★ An Incredible Birding Experience with Michael “The Birdman”
I’m so grateful I booked Michael! As he says, he’s “born, bred, and fed here,” and it couldn’t be more obvious. The Tobago rainforest has been his backyard his entire life, and that local knowledge is invaluable.Michael knows the birds, their calls, their habits, and—most importantly—where to find them. I visited in early July, which isn’t considered peak birding season, yet thanks to Michael I enjoyed an incredible morning and added numerous lifers to my list. The variety of species we found exceeded my expectations.Communication before the trip was excellent. Michael was quick to respond on WhatsApp [+1 (868) 759-2576, he gave me permission to post it], answered all my questions, and made coordinating everything easy. He picked me up directly from my Airbnb and, on the drive to the rainforest, pointed out beautiful beaches, local landmarks, and even the giant silk cotton tree while sharing stories about Tobago. If you’re a serious birder, a wildlife photographer, or simply someone who appreciates nature, I can’t recommend Michael highly enough. He consistently positioned me for fantastic photographic opportunities. The birds in the photos attached to this review were seen and photographed during our outing together. The most special was the very rare Yellow-legged Thrush showing probable partial leucism affecting the crown and face areas.Whether your goal is lifers, photography, or simply experiencing Tobago’s incredible biodiversity, book Michael “The Birdman.” You won’t be disappointed.
