This was an unforgettable experience. There is nothing like learning from locals, specially trained local to really get a true taste of the culture in a country. Over all this was the highlight of our trip. The combined experience between the chef Tania and the wine knowledge of Tomas, and the small.class setting really allowed you to gain an appreciation for the food and culture. Would recommend to anyone interested! A must!

Very beautiful, fun, educational, and participatory experience. Activity that is a bit outside the scope of a traditional tourist visit and that feels good! We finish it all off with a very nice little cocktail. You can eat your pastel de nata on-site or take them with you, and that is what we did to eat them later after our dinner. I highly recommend it to bring a bit of Portuguese cuisine home!!!👩‍🍳

One of the best meals of my life
It was a joy to learn to cook authentic Portuguese food with Heitor! He welcomed us into his beautiful home, took us on a tour of the historic building and farm, then set us to work! We made an incredible 5-course meal that rates in my top 5 most delicious meals of all time. You get to choose your menu from a variety of options depending on what sounds good, which was nice. We made so much food that we left totally stuffed. All the dishes were great but the “fish a portuguesa” was particularly exceptional and featured the best tomato I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m excited to try to recreate it at home (he emails the recipes too). Heitor also grows grapes to make his own wine, and we got to drink (lots of) his amazing vinho verde with the meal! It was delicious, easy drinking and we left a bit tipsy. The farm is located about 50 minutes outside of Porto but was easy to get to via either uber or train (we did uber one way then took the train back). I would recommend this to anyone visiting Porto who is interested in a meaningful, authentic cooking experience. Note that the class took about 5 hours total so don’t try to cram other scheduled activities on the same day.

The day started with a little delay... because life happens. Even though we were off to a late start, I never felt rushed. Pedro took me to the most enjoyable spots, starting with a little winery where I got to learn about the wine-making process and terroir, before diving into delicious wine and a local platter with the best fig marmalade. We had a typical lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the port wine tasting with the greatest view. The little boat and train ride through the valley at the end of the day were the cherry on top, letting this wonderful day truly sink in. Pedro's love and passion for what he does and for the wine really shows in everything. This tour felt less like a tour and more like spending a fine day with a good friend, because he's such an openhearted, genuine guy. 100% recommend! 🍷

Our host was excellent very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. we learnt a lot, not only about the port itself but also about the the climate and history of the region and winemaking. The small group also really added to the experience we were able to chat to and really engage with our fellow tasters meeting people from all-over Europe. Would whole heartly recommend we really enjoyed the experience.

When we planned our trip and learned that we needed to pre-book all wine tastings and tours in the Douro Valley, we knew we needed some help. The language barrier made us a bit uneasy so we chose Portugal by Wine to help us book and the service was excellent.We booked 3 wineries. There were time changes to some of the tours and we were given choices by Miriam, that we could work with. Check-ins at wineries were seamless. We did print our booking numbers and brought them, but didn’t need them. I chose the wineries without any help but if you need it, they will assist you in making your decisions.We were grouped with other English speaking folks with varying degrees of interests and knowledge about wine. This is important to keep in mind when booking and if you want private, I suggest you specify.

We were treated to a welcome refreshment and an amazing charcuterie board, prawns with savory rice for dinner, and a wonderful dessert of fresh fruit and custard. The meal was delicious and his home inviting. Joao and Matt are wonderful and gracious hosts, Joao a great chef, and the conversation was engaging and lively. Having the opportunity to dine in a private home while on vacation was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend!

This was a highlight of our stay in Porto. We paid to hire the boat for a two hour trip up and down the Douro, seeing all seven bridges and a lovely view of Porto from the river. Our hosts, Paulo and Sara, were fantastic and gave us an interesting commentary on the history as we sailed past, as well as recommendations on where the locals eat. Champagne, cold meats, cheeses and cakes were provided which were delicious and well above expectations.All in all this was a relaxing and truly satisfying way to see Porto and I highly recommended Paulo and Sara from Nuagit.

My partner and I did this tour as we traveled through Portugal for the first time. We like to seek out experiences that give us a genuine picture of life where we're traveling and this was exactly that.Marco grew up in Portugal and graciously showed us around Gaia. We learned so much and had such wonderful conversations with him throughout the day. The food he made was absolutely delicious, as well! This was our favorite day of our 2-week trip, plus we felt like we made a real friend.I cannot recommend Marco's tour enough! If you like non-touristy, authentic experiences, it's a must-do.
