We had such a lovely time on this food tour of Kalamata. Maria was a fantastic guide - warm, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, and it was clear throughout the tour how passionate she is about Greek food, culture and her home country.We got to try a great variety of delicious local foods, many of which we probably wouldn’t have discovered on our own, while also learning about the history and character of Kalamata as we explored the city. Maria brought everything to life with her stories and enthusiasm.My boyfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and came away feeling like we had experienced a much more authentic side of Kalamata. We’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city - especially if you love good food and want to learn more about Greece from someone who genuinely loves sharing it.

Maria is an incredible woman and has put together a lovely tour filled with knowledge of Greece and Kalamata’s history and culture. Throughout the tour, you get to try many delicious Greek foods from small, local businesses and learn about olive oil from an expert. As a solo, female traveler, I definitely recommend Mama’s Flavors!

Paradiso – The Paradise Within the Heart of Bermuda - Teddy and Muriel - HostsWe recently visited Bermuda and chose an Airbnb accommodation in a prime location. The location was a short walk to Bermuda’s Icon Hamilton Princess Hotel. From there, we could enjoy a leisurely walk into the heart of Hamilton. Our flight arrived late, but the hosts had planned for us to have access to the unit. The unit is an extension of their beautiful home, furnished with Bermuda style decorations and a sense of being “home.” Everything about the unit screamed, “Welcome, Great to have you.” There was a welcome note accompanied with snacks, much appreciated for sure. The next couple of days we were busy going down memory lane as Bermuda was my original home. On Father’s day, Muriel called the room and offered us tea and a greet and meet. Their home was incredible and they told us stories of how they came to rent their unit. They are some of the most gracious people we have ever met. I told them that this would be my destination every time I visited the island, if it was available. I have visited many Airbnb units around the world and this one stands out as being the BEST. The hospitality, the unit’s sense of “home” and the graciousness of the hosts, make this destination – PERFECT. We are looking forward to our next visit, if available, and hopefully it will be.

You should try it out! The wines were of high quality and very tasty! Of course the lunch was something that you cannot find easily to taste, except if you have a Greek mama to cook it for you! Maria our tour guide was also fantastic!!

Laconia is one of my favourite regions to travel! During our tour, Maria told us about the exciting and very interesting history of the Greek Gastronomy. Visiting the eco-touristic farm was something more than I expected! Maria, Fragkiskos and Marilena were absolutely professionals! Very friendly, they explained us about the ingredients of the recipe and revealed us some secrets about how to cook the best gemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes)!! It had so much fun! Definitely do it again, thank you guys!

Our food tour with Mamas Flavours was one of the highlights of our entire trip to the Peloponnese. Maria Monastirioti is so knowledgeable, engaging and gracious, and she taught us a great deal not only about the Greek foods that we had a chance to taste, but also about the sights around Kalamata that we saw during our walking tour. She readily customized our experience to fit our time constraints on the day of our tour, and also helped us tour a church I was interested in seeing when we were nearby. We happened to schedule this tour in advance of our arrival in Greece and it was actually our last day there. My biggest wish after was that I had actually toured with Maria the first day we were in Greece, because we would have been able to appreciate and seek out culinary experiences with greater knowledge. I did buy several products, but there is absolutely no pressure at all to purchase anything - Maria made that very clear at each stop. We were a party of four adults, two in our 50s and two in their 20s and everyone agrees that touring with Maria was one of the most memorable things about our trip. Highly recommended!

I love cooking and travelling in different countries for new tastes. This experience was one of my best! The cooking lesson with the local ladies had been for me a new great experience and sure I will come again to taste the Kalamata olives and trahana (a fermented milk pasta that greek local women make in the summer!). Maria, our tour guide was amazing and so friendly with us! I recommended it for anyone who travels to Arcadia and wants to taste authentic Greek food!!

From start to finish Maria has been amazing. From my initial enquiry, to the tour itself. She is so organised, prepared and knowledgeable, the entire process has been faultless, and the tour far exceeded any expectations we had. Maria’s local knowledge and relationship with the producers she collaborates with to produce the tour is so impressive. We came away with not only an understanding and love of the local food, oils and wines, but also the people and the place itself. Maria’s love of history is so evident throughout the day, and it was a privilege to be in the company of someone like her. We were never rushed, and in parts I know she gave us much more in-depth information, as she gauged our enthusiasm on certain subjects. The food, the people and Kalamata itself are stunning, and we can’t thank Maria enough for giving us the highlight of our trip to The Peloponnese. We had a wonderful time together with our guide Maria! We really enjoyed the mix of walking, talking, learning about Kalamata history, sharing experiences and laughing together and of course the possibility to test some local quality products, food, olive oil and wine. What an absolutely fabulous experience. Our group of four did a food based tour in Kalamata, with lunch. Maria provides a very special experience from beginning to end. The pace of the tour is perfect and can easily be adjusted as required. The collaborators that Maria works with are top notch. The wine tasting was excellent and the olive oil tasting was not only fun but educational. Visiting the market was a great experience too. We finished with a “light” lunch at a very local restaurant. Every single dish was perfection but a stand out memory was the very slow cooked and crispy pork. Maria provides wonderful treats for tour participants to have throughout your time together and they are a great to take home at the end. We are so thrilled we booked with Maria - she made our time in Kalamata very special.

We had an amazing food tour with Maria. She was very personable, very knowledgeable, so kind and genuine and cheerful and friendly. She took us to many places that we love. She spent a lot of time answering all of our questions about Greek food, Greek culture, Greek education, Greek politics. We loved the pastry shop. She took us to We especially loved the olive oil tasting.She showered us with gifts and treats at the very end. Lunch at the very end was wonderful and delicious. She gave us a large clump of grapes to take home.We can’t say enough about what a professional Maria is. She also spent one extra hour with us!
