Top Devon Walking Tours

Mark gave us an excellent spooky tour of Ilfracombe on a warm evening in August. Both kids were suitably spooked and inspired! Without giving anything away, the tour was family friendly, sensitively grizzly and made for a great family experience.

This tour was a lot of fun and I recommend it to any Fawlty Towers fans who happen to be in the Torbay area. It was fascinating to hear stories about the hotel on which the comedy was based, the filming of the two series and what has happened to some of the stars of the show. We all joined in enthusiastically reciting some of the most popular scenes and I terrified other people on the tour by channelling my inner Basil.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour in the glorious sunshine yesterday. Graham was a very engaging guide full of interesting facts about Fawlty Towers and Torquay. There was lots of interaction and as a small group it was very relaxed. A fun way to spend a couple of hours in Torbaydos and good value for money.

Mark was a great tour guide! We over booked and he accommodate our group on another date. Turning our kids from a walking tour being boring to wanting to go on more ghost tours. They learnt loads of history too so even better, got some exercise and time off their phones (until we got back and they wanted to watch all the ghost hunting videos). Thank you Mark definitely a high point of our holiday so far. We can't wait to see if we can make other events you run.

This is hands down the best walking tour I’ve ever been on! Graham is an absolute treasure of a guide—his passion, deep knowledge, warmth, and brilliant sense of humor made the whole experience unforgettable. As someone who grew up reading Agatha Christie’s novels, it was incredibly inspiring to walk in her footsteps and learn about her life right where she grew up. Graham’s engaging storytelling brought her world to life and was the absolute highlight that made my entire Torquay trip worth it. I cannot recommend this tour (and Graham!) highly enough!

Superb! Graham, the host is a charming affable fellow. There were six of us on our Fawlty Towers walking tour. Graham put us all at ease with his warmth and bonhomie. He was knowledgeable of the area and of the sit-com. We asked questions, which were answered with wit and style. Our thespian urges were tested by the opportunity to act out well known scenes of the comedy. Two hours of fun. Thank you Graham.

This was a truly outstanding Agatha Christie guided walk around Torquay. Our guide, Graham, provided a wonderfully detailed and amusing tour. His knowledge of Agatha Christie is incredible, and he is without doubt one of the best tour guides I've ever met anywhere in the world. I cannot recommend this walk highly enough. Graham also does an equally enjoyable Fawlty Towers walk around Torquay. Both are unmissable events if you ever visit Torquay.

The Ilfracombe history tour was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in discovering more about Ilfracombe. Mark was extremely knowledgeable and brought the history to life with fascinating stories, interesting facts and plenty of local detail. Thanks for a great evening!

The experience was well described by Cool Destinations and easy to book. I had good e-mail reminders and even the guide e-mailed to clarify pick up information. The guide, Graham, was extremely knowledgeable about Agatha Christie- her life, her books and he also had unusual stories about her. The tour was very well thought out- what we needed to see, in a shaded area (it was very hot) and often with places to sit. The three hours went so quickly- it honestly felt about an hour. Graham added humour, interaction and he asked us questions (there were 6 in the group) about ourselves. He remembered information about us throughout the tour, such as our names, occupations and where we come from- I was very impressed by this. He had a book of photos, letters and other documents that brought his stories to life. We had picture quizzes and re-enactments of photos (including masks of Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot), which added to the fun. The morning was such an enjoyable way to see parts of Torquay and learn about Agatha Christie’s links to it. We were even inspired to go to the Grand Hotel (where she spent her honeymoon) to have afternoon tea.

As a first time visitor to Torquay this was up there on my to do list and it did not disappoint! Graham is so knowledgeable and personable, he made the 2 hours fly by. This was a very intimate tour, with just my wife and me, which led to a brilliant personal highlights tour of Torquay built around the Fawlty Tours information. The tour is in 3 acts which I would encourage anyone to have a go at and be involved.10 out of 10 cannot recommend enough.

A very knowledgeable guide that made the whole experience enjoyable. A wealth of supernatural stories that gave a better understanding of some of Ilfracombe’s eerie past.
