Top Charleston Cooking Classes

This is an absolute must do while on Charleston! The hands on cooking and secret southern tips combined with the rich culture and heritage of this city is the best of all worlds! My two girlfriends and I thought this was a top highlight and would book again in a heartbeat, not a single disappointment at all, it was truly amazing and very tasty!

We had a wonderful time making the Huguenot Torte, Sherried Whip Creme, pimento cheese and buttermilk biscuits along with learning the history of the recipes and region. The cooks were friendly and engaging. They made sure everyone got a hands on experience.

We weren’t sure what to expect but we knew it involved cocktails! Be aware that this experience can be outside or inside but not necessarily in a Secret Speakeasy. This experience was very fun and Jack was a wealth of information. He definitely catered to the age groups that attended. We learned basic bartending skills tastes quite a few cocktails that were not so common but we would try to make now that Jack taught us the secrets to making them well. We not only learned bartending hacks but new recipes with measurements that definitely made the difference between a good cocktail and a terrible one! We went with a group of newly celebrated 21 year olds so this was a warranted class but older adults had lots of fun as well. I would highly recommend this experience and Jack as the host!

Martha was full of historical knowledge and made cooking so much fun. Georgia was amazing as well. Don’t miss out on this class!

We learned a lot about portions, shake, stir etc. Drinks were very good. Make sure to eat before you go.

Our hostess was so friendly, personable and informative. The food we made turned out delicious and we learned a lot about Charleston culinary history! Highly recommend. We did the morning class and made biscuits, pimento cheese, and a pecan tart. Yummy!!

Hands-On Cooking with Martha is a must do when in Charleston! In addition to cooking three fantastic dishes, you learn interesting facts about the ingredients and the history of Charleston. The classes are fun/educational and the food melts in your mouth! Whether you are a seasoned cook or a beginner, these classes are for you. We even learned a bunch of kitchen hacks. In addition to being warm and friendly, Martha is so knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the two classes we took and plan to take her classes on our next visit.

Wonderful experience from start to finish We had a fantastic culinary cooking experience from a great chef who gave us the history on local food and families producing it. Martha was fantastic, patient , professional, and such a joy to meet . The food was absolutely delicious!

Charleston Culinary Cooking Class provided the PERFECT way to enjoy Charleston history, learn how to make authentic foods with authentic ingredients, and redisover the fun in cooking again with friends and family. Martha Herchak knows her stuff. This was my second time at Charleston Culinary and it wont be my last.

During this class you learn classic southern recipes and you learn the history of the foods. The class is very informative and fun.

Fun cooking class. We helped make Charleston rice, cornbread and mixed berry cobbler. Martha was a perfect instructor and a lovely human.

My husband and I were looking for a local hands on cooking class with the low country cuisine. This class was great! Would do another class with this business!!
