Fun Beginner Kayak Xochimilco Experience
I loved all of the kind workers who made this experience great. Eduardo our driver was so kind and friendly. The kayak tour was a lot of fun, definitely would try going with my more experienced tour next time but great for beginners and introduction to xochimilco through the water.

Amazing Axolotls with Alan!!!!

Amazing Axolotls with Alan!!!!
Our entire experience with Alan was so thoughtful and welcoming! He was very communicative and flexible when traffic made us a little later than anticipated. Once aboard his beautiful boat, he told us about the history of Xochimilco, the current issues facing the human population as well as the flora and fauna of the ecosystem in the area. We learned so much about the amazing axolotl and got to interact with a beautiful farm on one of the islands, featuring very amazing baby cows, rabbits, goats and ducks (as well as one pig!). We ended the trip with drinks, snacks, and fun games that made us all laugh. This tour truly was the highlight of my 6 days in Mexico City and I would highly recommend going with Alan and his captain through the beautiful canals of Xochimilco!!

You can’t miss it!
A fantastic experience for small, private groups! This bike tour was one of the highlights of our trip. It was a fun and easy way to explore the city, and we got to see so many places we definitely would have missed on our own.Our guide was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience feel personal from start to finish. The small group size made it easy to ask questions, interact with the guide, and enjoy every stop at a relaxed pace.I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a more personal and memorable way to discover the city. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best part of my trip!

Best part of my trip!
This was the best part of our trip. As someone who loves animals and learning it was perfect. The passion for conservation and culture is amazing. I thought I knew a lot about axolotl but I was able to learn more than I imagined. From 9am tequila shots to learning about farming, meeting a baby cow and seeing why we need to save the black axolotl (big hint Asian carp suck). Ending with a mezcal tasting and trying new foods! It was more than I expected and worth every penny! 12/10

Perfect for Young Families!
We had an amazing experience with this tour! Our guide at the pyramids was exceptional. Incredibly kind and thoughtful, full of great information, fun with the kids, and understanding when our 4 year old was ready to move onto the next thing. Our 8 year old loved learning about the history, and there were some really fun projects and elements that were perfect for her as well. As adults, the sites were remarkable, and we had a lot of fun learning as well. The Reino Animal Park was also delightful. Beautifully curated, tons of engaging animal activities, and the "safari" was a blast. From the driver to the tour to the park, it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. We HIGHLY recommend it as a way for young families to enjoy these incredible sites.

Highlight of our trip
We had an awesome time in Xochimilco! It was the highlight of our trip. Joss was an awesome guide and very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area! Because of this trip we were able to do many things we wouldn’t have been able to find ourselves, like a less-crowded trajinera dock, lunch with locally grown food on a chinampa, and the axolotl sanctuary! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn about Xochimilco and the history of the area!

Private Tour of Xochimilco
We had such a memorable experience on this Xochimilco tour and would highly recommend it. It was perfect for our family of four—our 16-year-old son and 11-year-old daughter both loved it. The entire day felt unique and immersive, from the peaceful boat ride through the eco-protected canals to the incredible home-cooked meal.A standout for our kids was the axolotl sanctuary—they were completely fascinated and it ended up being the highlight of the experience for them.Joss, our guide, was wonderful—so knowledgeable, warm, and engaging throughout the tour. Everything felt thoughtful and well-paced, and we truly felt like we got an authentic glimpse into the area. Carlos our driver was wonderful, too.Such a special experience and one we’ll definitely remember!

Monarch Butterfly from Morelia Michoacan
Deborah_S, Mar 2026
Our guide, Carlos, was...
Our guide, Carlos, was knowledgeable and personable. There were supposed to be four people on our trip but the others canceled and so we had a private tour with just the two of us. The car was comfortable. The countryside was beautiful and the mountain roads and towns were amazing. We paid ( 150 pesos each) to get into the sanctuary and 200 pesos each for a delicious meal afterwards. On the way to the sanctuary he took the back roads and told us about the agriculture of the area . On the way back to Morelia he took the highway and he paid the tolls on the road. My husband and I are in our 70s and the elevation gain was difficult for me but I took it slow and breathed every time I took a step, and I did fine. If the elevation bothers you, you can take a horse and that's easy to do. The weather at the top was cool and a little rainy and many of the Butterflies were clustered and many more were flying. Especially when the sun came out. If you are very interested in photographing the Clusters you should bring a telephoto camera. The Clusters look dark from a distance because they are in deep forest and located in tall fir trees. We loved our trip. It met all of our expectations.

Butterfly Monarch Tour from Mexico City

Worth it!
If you're debating about making this trek, stop hesitating. My 10-year-old daughter and I had an amazing visit. We will never forget the magic of all those butterflies! The ride was long, the hike was dusty, but really not all that strenuous for us. The scenery was beautiful, even without the thousands of fluttering wings. Our guides were kind, knowledgeable, and flexible, and we felt well-cared for. I highly recommend- no regrets for spending a day of our CDMX trip visiting the sanctuary.
