Very nice tour, although we did not spot any bears (guide went to several spots in search of one) it was still a very nice tour. Saw lots of other wildlife. Really liked all the Salmon running, this was our 12th time in alaska and first time we got to see them run.

It rained the whole time we were there. We were wet and cold, but it was still the best excursion I have ever done. Captain Josh was phenomenal! He knew exactly where the whales would be. He was so knowledgeable and informative. We saw so many whales and got amazing pictures. We also saw sea lions, sea otters, and a couple of bears. As an extra bonus, at the end, we received incredible drone footage. I can not say enough good things about this experience. You just need to go and see for yourself!

We have been whale watching numerous times with Shawn and Teresa McConnell of Glacier Wind Charters. We are never disappointed as they always know where the whales are located. Both Shawn and his son are very respectful of the wildlife, but know how to show you a good time. We highly recommend them and go out with them every time we are in Hoonah.

Myself and my mom were on the Alaska cruise at the end of May/early June. We are pretty active people and enjoy the outdoors! We got lucky and it was just the two of us with the guide, Dave. We had a great experience and had great views, saw eagles, bears and other animals! Awesome experience and would recommend to anyone. We kayaked pretty far since it was a small group, the water was good and we were fast. However, even if you don't go as far as we did, you would still get to see a ton!We had pretty meh weather. Was raining for part of it, but was still a great experience and you're given all the gear you could possibly need! Everyone was so nice and I wish I could go again!

Four of us booked a whale watching boat trip. It turned out to be a very exceptional trip. They took us to several different areas where we saw whales. They let us out in the front of the boat which allowed good picture taking. I would highly recommend this trip.

We had an absolute blast with Captain Josh on our whale watching tour! He provided a lot of information and was very entertaining. The drone footage is an awesome souvenir to have.

Did this August 2022 but forgot to post a review. The date selection will not permit selecting Aug 2022. This was wonderful with a local who knows and shared a lot of history. Saw a number of whales and the boat captain has communication with other boats in the water to make sure you go to where the whales are. Highly recommend.

We had an awesome time with Captain Dennis on our whale watching excursion while in Icy Strait Point / Hoonah on our cruise with NCL. We booked this excursion on our own and couldn't have been more excited to be out on the water with only 2 additional passengers besides us (boat only holds 6 passengers total)! From start to finish, we had the best time learning all about Captain Dennis' business (and how he met his wife, LOL) while we motored out to find the whales. We followed the whales and saw numerous dives and breaches. Crystal, Dennis' wife, was responsible for transportation to / from the dock and was just delightful. We highly recommend this company for whale watching!

My family of 6 took this kayak excursion during our cruise port stop the last week of September 2023. The staff assisting with the kayaks were so kind and friendly. They were patient and helpful as they explained how to use the kayak equipment. They had everything available that we needed for the excursion. Thankfully, we had a beautiful day.Unexpectedly (for us) there were hump back whales in the bay we were kayaking and we were able to see one whale in particular as he would dive for food. We had the most fun following the whale around the bay. My kids were also excited about the large crab and moonstar that the staff allowed them to see/hold.The experience was a highlight of our trip. I highly recommend anyone to book an excursion with this group. We loved it!

My family and I had an incredible experience with Vivid Endeavors and Captain Seth! The boat is perfect and Captain Seth knows these waters. We saw MULTIPLE pods of humpback whales, tons of otters playing in the water, black tailed deers, a grizzly bear in the marsh, and even chased a pod of orcas. This excursion was the highlight of our Alaska trip and we would recommend them to anyone!

This was a lovely excursion from Icy Strait; we took the free gondola from the terminal to the meeting place, located near the end of the gondola ride. I'm sorry that we don't have our driver/guide's name, but she was based at the souvenir store near the waterfront. She was really pleasant and informative and did her best to find places where we might see bears. We spent some time at a lovely spot on a bridge above a river where there was evidence that bears had been, but, unfortunately on this occasion, it didn't happen. it was still a really nice trip tho' and I would thoroughly recommend. It was good to ride along logging trails and see the surrounding countryside and learn about life in this lovely little community. Chichagof Island was probably our favourite stop on the cruise. Hoonah is a lovely, unspoilt, laid back township, and the walk back to the cruise ship made even better by the appearance of whales in the nearby waters. Just hope that the residents don't allow it to become overtaken with tourism and get spoilt, like some of the other cruise stops.

The whales were everywhere! We saw six at one time feeding - what a sight ! Thank you to Teresa for getting the 12 of us to the boat. The small group was So Nice. Capt. Casey was knowledgeable and informative. We saw eagles in the trees, rafts of otters (their so cute!) and in spite of the rain we had a wonderful whale watching adventure with Glacier Wind Charter. Thank you everyone !

Captain Seth, made this cruise, a wonderful experience. We saw whales, bear, seals, otters, and eagles I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone. We were able to spend more time on the water and go to a lot more places than if we were on a larger tour. We saw some gorgeous views. Our boat, was very well supplied, clean and provided great views from both on the deck, and in the cabin, our captain was very knowledgeable, and a great host for our whale watching experience.

I have been on quite a few charters all over but Captain Bills was the best I've been on by far. We caught Halibut nonstop. Didn't even get time to get all 6 poles in the water. The six of us took turns and had a blast. We also seen whales, orcas, bear, deer, sea otters, porpoises, and eagles. Captain Bill was very knowledgeable and personable. I highly recommend a trip with him if you want a great experience like us. Thanks Captain Bill! We will never forget this trip.

Due to an unexpected commitment our Whale watching tour by Capt. Josh was canceled, but he suggested we go out with a friend of his, Capt. Billy of Wooshkeetaan Tours. Capt. Billy steared us out of Hoonah, Alaska first looking for bears along the shore. We found two but they were not very close and somewhat difficult to see even with my telephoto camera lens. Then it was not very far to find our first humback whale bubble net feeding. That is where one or more whales swim in a circle blowing bubbles which surrounds the small fish in an ever tightening circle till the whale’s mouth opens at the surface capturing and swallowing all those fish. Then the whale swims and surfaces 3 or 4 more times till he finally dives down with one last majestic tail splash. We followed that same whale for 6-7 feeds. Capt. Billy communicated with all the boat captains on the water in that area to find then a large pod of whales swimming and feeding together. What an awesome sight to see that was with so many whales at once. As we cruised the Alaskan waters of Icy Straight Point we spied many otters frolicking, lots of eagles perched on the rocky shores, as well as some harbor seals lounging on a big harbor bouy. This whole morning was a truly memorable experience!

Saw many humpback whales from afar but one humpback breached extremely close to the boat and allowed us to really appreciate how massive these magnificent animals are. Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared so much interesting information and stories. He spoke so fast and often that my son could barely find an opportunity to speak to me because I kept shushing him because I wanted to hear what the guide was saying (it was that interesting). It was also nice to have some time in Hoonah after the tour was over. The breaded and fried halibut at Fisherman's Daughter restaurant was incredible.
