Welcome to Boulder

Tucked against the Rocky Mountain foothills 30 miles northeast of Denver, Boulder Colorado started as an 1858 gold prospectors’ camp then transitioned to a focus on the beautiful natural surroundings. In 1898, official protection was given to the land surrounding the Flatirons mountains just outside town. Today, visitors hike the Flatirons on the Mesa Trail in Boulder Mountain Park or go higher to backpack into the Rocky Mountain National Park backcountry. In this 4-season outdoor town, visitors enjoy winter sports like fat-tire snow biking, summer e-bike trail rides and strolls along historic Pearl Street to visit over 20 microbreweries, numerous distilleries, and America’s best farmers market.
