Porto Travel Guides (Updated October 2026)

We had a fantastic boat tour! Beautiful scenic views of Porto and Giai while enjoying wine and snacks!!

So much was just brilliant. The communications in advance, the friendliness plus confident capability of all the staff, the many wines we were served, the well presented and tasty snacks (and thanks for the vegetarian option) the views, the comfortable boat. I could go on.The tour leaves from a small marina just out of Porto but it's an easy taxi right there and Uber pick up to take us back.You can get cheaper bridges tours from the Porto river front (and we've done them) but this is so so much better.

My partner and I very much enjoyed our 3-hour bike tour of Porto with our guide, TIm, and six other guests! Tim was very personable, knowledgeable, and patient with questions, as well as with the various levels of experience on ebikes that this random group of guests brought to this tour. Tim shared interesting stories about many various sights and landmarks around the city, and gave plenty of guidance about the route, the bikes, and what type of conditions each section of the tour would include. The tour was fun, educational, and altogether worthwhile!

We had a fantastic day on our Douro Valley excursion. Everything was perfect, and our tour guide was excellent. We highly recommend this excursion

Great tour with Tim! He was very patient and thorough with set up and orientation. We saw many Porto highlights and the pace was just right. Tim made sure everyone was comfortable on their bikes and he waited several times for riders in the back. I felt very safe on this tour in a very busy city. I really enjoyed my time.

This tour was a great way to see the Douro valley. It's such a beautiful place. Our guide was informative, and it was so much more interesting than doing it on our own. We tasted a lot of Portuguese wine and had a big farm to table lunch. The boat ride was broke up the van ride and our boat guides even treated us to a bit of Port.

Cooltour really came through on this tour! Everything was exactly as advertised. The wine tastings were excellent, and the homemade gourmet lunch was superb - the lunch exceeded my expectations by far. The boat cruise was very nice, although the boat guide (not from Cooltour) could have added some commentary about the wine estates we were passing along the river. All in all, a magnificent day, and even the weather cooperated! Bravo!

Brilliant day. Our guide was Carlos Daniel who was very knowledgeable and an excellent guide. He made the whole day most enjoyable. The meal and wine tastings were superb, and a beautiful river trip too....with more wine.

A leisurely cruise along the Duoro with fantastic first mate Lucas as our guide and waiter. His historical knowledge of places on the riverside was second to none, and his hosting skills were excellent. It was very comfortable with only a small group of people on the cruiser and you felt very safe in the hands of our Captain steering the cruiser.

This experience is worth much more than it cost. A beautiful boat. Plenty of room and facilities.There was 9 passengers on this trip and Lucas and Junior, took great care of us. One of our group is partially sighted and getting on and off for her was no problem with their help. A snack of cheese, ham, olives and crispbread along with a bottle of wine between 2, was all that was needed on this 2hr cruise down the river. Lucas was very knowledgable and spoke several languages. He was happy to take our photos, assist our friend around the deck and made a real difference to the enjoyment for us all. The trip exceeded our expectations.

A lovely way to spend an afternoon! It was nice to get out onto the water and David was really lovely in answering all of our endless questions. The small group size was great too.

Tonya & Tomas were excellent! This was a great experience! We would highly recommend it to anybody traveling to Porto. The ingredients, the food, and the instructions were awesome. The wines were delicious & we all thought it was the best experience of our trip!

A wonderful experience that I would recommend. Took a private hire trip with friends. Great atmosphere on board and stunning views along the river. The boat was very clean and comfortable. Our host was fabulous, wanting us to enjoy the whole experience. He was very informative about Porto and served us some delicious vinho verde, port and snacks. Two hours passed far too quickly. It was the highlight of our trip to Porto. Thank you.

What an amazing experience. Pedro, our guide was both funny and knowledgeable. He definitely made the experience what it was. Boat ride was beautiful and so enjoyed the winery.

Just a note to say how much we enjoyed the tour on Saturday. The vineyards were in incredible locations and we had a lovely time. The stand out element to the day though was Nuno. What a great guy! So flexible and always giving us the choice of what to do, even showing us places that were not ordinarily part of the tour. His rendition of David Bowie Under Pressure will stay with us forever!
