Alison provided a truly wonderful and authentic Chinese cooking experience. From the moment I arrived, she was completely prepared and made me feel welcome with a delicious homemade soy milk drink—such a thoughtful and personal touch.Her kitchen was beautifully organized, with all of the ingredients carefully prepared and laid out before we began. I especially loved learning about the ingredients and discovering that many came directly from Alison’s own garden. Her knowledge, preparation, and attention to detail made the class feel both approachable and special.Together, we made three dishes entirely from scratch: two salads and a noodle soup. The crunchy lotus stem salad was a standout, with just the right balance of spice, texture, and earthy flavor. I also loved the cucumber salad, which had a perfectly seasoned spicy red paste that gave it so much depth without overpowering the dish. Finally, we made a comforting noodle soup with pork, preserved greens, garlic chives, and plenty of fresh herbs. It was delicious and packed with flavor.The class ended up being a one-on-one experience, and Alison put so much care into every part of the session. She was warm, patient, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing her food and culture. I would highly recommend Alison to anyone looking for a hands-on, authentic Chinese cooking experience.

Greg, our guide, was fantastic! He showed us to great spots to teach us about Brooklyn and its history. He shared interesting stories. The food items we tried were delicious and loved hearing the history of each restaurant.

What a unique experience! I always wondered what I was like to graffiti but was too much of a polite teenager to get into it, this was a super fun way to live out some early rebellious dreams! It’s much harder than it looks, but our teacher was really helpful and chill. Luckily the day cleared up, it was fun to do part of the activity outside and the rest indoors. Large bodysuits were provided so as to not mess up clothes. Overall a very fun, out of the ordinary activity to try out. Special shoutout to our guide Laurene!

I joined this experience for free as a tester through Partiful in exchange for my review. It was a lovely experience and I appreciated the host’s story of how she became interested in sketching, and the research she had done on the location.In the beginning, there was an orientation encouraging us to focus on what drew your attention, and at each stop, there were prompts to guide your sketching, which I found helpful. I appreciate that the group was kept small and intimate. At the end, we had a serendipitous chat with a longtime local couple who shared their stories on their history in the area.
