What To Expect
Starting at Place du Général de Gaulle in central Rouen, you'll open the Explorial app, enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message, and follow the riddles through one of the best-preserved medieval cities in France. No guide, no fixed start time.
The hunt first takes you into the world of Street Art Jaw, a large-scale mural project that has brought contemporary art to the half-timbered facades of Rouen's old town. The riddles send you searching the walls for imagery most visitors walk straight past.
From there, the route leads to the Musée des Beaux-Arts, one of France's most important regional art museums. Its collection spans six centuries, with particular strength in the Impressionists.
The tour's centrepiece is the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Rouen, the great Gothic church that Claude Monet painted more than 30 times. The riddles explore both its architectural story and the famous series of canvases it inspired.
