Incredibly important for understanding the devastation of slavery

Everyone who visits Louisiana should take some time to visit the Whitney Plantation. The tour clearly points out the impact that slavery had on the United States in the past and how it still reverberates and influences our society today. This is a sobering truth that is never "whitewashed" during the tour. Highly recommended

This tour provides a very fact based overview of the terrible Slave trade in the U.S. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a very clear understanding of just how cruel the treatment of slaves really was at that time. The tour is not about the glamour of the South, but rather the dark past. This is a must tour for true history buffs!

This was an amazing and emotional experience that I'm so glad I did! I wasn't really sure what to expect, but our guide was so good and so engaging that you couldn't help but be pulled into the experience! Our guide out/on the bus, John O through Gray Line, was great and had so much knowledge of New Orleans and the plantations!

Having visited many of the plantations near New Orleans, I can assure you this one is different. It is a guided walking tour explaining in depth about local slavery practices. The research that had been done and shown is impressive. An open air museum with authentic buildings of the time being brought to one location, also has stunning gardens, sculptures, and walls. Our guide was personal and terrific.

A very well put together tour. The drive out and narrative provided was excellent and entertaining, providing some history on New Orleans. The plantation tour guide knew her script well and answered all questions often giving additional and interesting details. A lot of information provided on the two hour guided tour that truly depicted what a difficult and dangerous life slaves had on a sugar plantation! A very worthwhile afternoon of American history!

Our tour guide was amazing. His stories about the experience for someone to have been a slave were very telling of what their lives may have been like. I enjoy learning, especially in the location where an experience would have happened in the past. This was a great way to learn of the terrible history of these unfortunate souls.

ali was awesome, told it like it was. talked about the connection between race and class, and how brutal slavery was, and how the institutions that supported still it exist today (rise of trump, prison industrial complex, our poor education system, etc). definitely recommend it (the other plantation tours barely even mention slavery).

So heartbroken to see the challenges slaves endured back-in-the-day. So inhumane! My group’s tour guide Sydney gave a thorough explanation of all of the exhibits and memorials. She took time to answer individuals questions. Kudos to Sydney for her Black History knowledge.
