Powerful tour. I've been to Oak Alley Plantation and there is a stark difference. Both are worth a visit. Touring Whitney is a profound experience. The concept is a focus on the history of the enslaved people who lived and worked there.

This is something every American should experience. The site makes you feel certain emotions and lets you understand history in a way that you can't understand based on descriptions of slavery alone.

It’s something to be said about cycles and how history repeats itself. As slaves our ancestors lived in proverty never being able to buy their freedom because the system was set up to keep them their. How is it that you can owe someone money who stole you from your home, changed your name, rapped your wife, child or mother. And you owe them money for buying your basic necessities. Said truth is it kind of looks like the world we live in now. They kidnap our children and sale them into the sex trade, they make rent so high that you owe everyone trying to survive but never really surviving. This your changed my perspective and taught me a few things I had never considered. But what I will say is on a positive note. I learned that we are special a rare bread of people who built this country on our backs, hard work and sacrifice. We are American as any other person on this land. We are amazingly beautiful in every form. Our story maybe hard to hear but it is worth listening to.

This was a thought provoking trip. Makes one wonder how the human race can continue to be so flawed and hateful. Will we ever learn from our mistakes?

This tour provides a very unique narrative relative to the revision of African descended persons' his(her)tories of Louisiana. A superb tour and conduit for race relations and healing in the USA!

Jim our tour guide and Brian (AphiA member) the driver were both AWESOME! Thoroughly enjoyed the rich history of Louisiana and the smooth ride. Loved that Whitney story was told from the slaves perspective and that many of rhe original buildings are still on the property. Loved the self guided tour from the app. Much needed history lesson to be told. Excellent experience!

Had a great tour to Whitney. Brian was a safe driver and Jim provided a running commentary on the whole trip explaining local history and the sites along the way which was much appreciated. Whitney history is something everyone should see/hear.

The ride to the plantation was excellent. The driver was super! He gave us so much information about NOLA. The plantation itself was very hard for me personally. It was like i could feel my ancestors. I learned a great deal walking thru the grounds. My spirit was heavy when i left and i was literally choking back tears the whole time i was there. I would recommend this tour absolutely. Especially to people of my race. Also to people of other races so that they may see and feel what my people made it through. WE ARE A STRONG PEOPLE! Great tour. Will visit the others next tome im in NOLA.

This plantation tour should be mandatory for all Americans! It was extremely interesting and my kids (ages 11,13,14) learned a lot especially from the victim quotes all around.
