Ghosts, legends, and dark history – this is our most popular tour – a walk through the streets of the Old French Quarter, hearing the history of our city through the stories of its restless dead, it’s old legends, it’s great disasters, and unsolved murders. The stories are those that define our city and it’s people and most unsettling, it all really happened! The only tour in the city to focus on the Dark History of New Orleans--the things that made us what we are, but which the city council would just as soon not have you know! Led by pre-Katrina tour guides, and the only company in the city who features people who were licensed pre-Katrina and residents for decades.

Now I have quite the experience with tours around the world, but Jonathan was SUPER knowledgeable about everything! It’s so rare to find a 2 hour tour that keeps you engaged and interested. As we walked, all the locals kept telling us we had the best guide in NOLA, even at places we weren’t stopping at. Bring any and ALL questions, he will answer them! Something I appreciated about his tour was that you can tell he loves the city and the history he was talking about. I hate being treated like a tourist, but he made sure to lead us through the city and give us the stories and fun facts about the buildings and even some of the traditions we saw happening in the street. It was so cool to be part of the French Quarter in the way that we were for two hours. My only regret is that I didn’t bring more questions. When I come back to this city, we’re booking another tour of his ASAP!

Dark History Tour #2 Dead Frenchmen given by Doug, was so interesting! After having lived in New Orleans and then bringing my partner, who has never been this tour explained so many things I was not aware of. Interesting facts and stories from the other side of the Quarter. Doug was so charismatic and captivating! I cannot wait to visit again and book more tours!

We decided on a week long road trip and New Orleans was our destination. Looking for great tours and came across the Dark History Tour. Jonathon did a fantastic job giving us the lowdown on New Orleans history and why the city is haunted!! He knows his history and the tour size was perfect. He was personable and everyone in our group seemed to really enjoy the tour. I will do it again next Jen we return to NOLO.

Cannot recommend booking with JWT enough!
Our tour was led by Johnathan himself. Not only is he an expert on the history of New Orleans but clearly a beloved member of the community (he was greeted by friends at nearly every stop). He brought to life dark and terrifying stories of the past while also shedding light on the humanity of the people who lived it. As a die-hard history nerd, this was a treat!
Bonus: He'll also point you in the right direction to enjoy locally owned restaurants and shops during your visit :)

I have been on many tours in the quarter and this one topped them all. Johnathan is an amazing historian. He has extensive knowledge of New Orleans history. He is a very captivating story teller. He also is very interactive with the crowd. I'm looking forward to the vampire tour on our next trip.

Really fun, even for our kiddos. Loved his style and vibe. Would’ve liked more ghost/voodoo stuff, but the stories and history for that short period of time was mesmerizing and appreciated. Easy walk, nice break at the Pirate bar. Would’ve liked another 5hrs with him. He’s been a great dinner partner to just sit and chat with!
