What To Expect
Starting at Oskar-Groll-Anlage 12, 88131 Lindau (Bodensee), Germany, open the Explorial app and enter the 6-digit game code that you received by text and Viator chat message. You're standing at the edge of a lake that borders Germany, Austria, and Switzerland — the riddles take you across the island at its centre.
Your first landmark is the Altes Rathaus, the old town hall built in 1422, whose painted facade — restored to its vivid medieval colours — depicts scenes from the city's imperial history and makes it one of the most decorative civic buildings in the region.
From there the app guides you to the Mangturm am Hafenplatz, the round medieval tower marking the old harbour entrance, whose pointed turret and lakeside position have made it the emblem of Lindau for centuries.
The route then takes you to the Spielbank, Lindau's casino in an elegant Belle Époque building near the waterfront — a reminder that this lakeside island has been a destination for pleasure-seekers since the 19th century.
