Our communication with Calina before the trip was excellent (wonderful woman with a great sense of humour). Eventthough we had read previous reviews, it took us several hours on foot the day before to locate Port Tulcea Aval. We travelled to Tulcea for this experience and our expectations were definitely exceeded. Our guide was Florin, who was a botanist/conservationist, who was knowledgeable, obliging and also had a great sense of humour. Thankfully, we travelled for ten hours (255 kms) with another family from Brussels, who were equally as delightful. Wonderful to see the beauty of Romania, particularly the eco system of the Danube, the birds wild horses and cattle. A separate lunch of chicken was prepared at the village which was very pleasant and filling. Our host was a jolly, friendly woman. One of the best days ever. Thank you Discover Danube Delta for this experience...well worth the cost of the trip.

We traveled for 10 hours through the Danube Delta in a small open motorboat and saw an incredible amount: White-tailed eagles, kingfishers, penguins, wild horses, and many special plant species. At noon, we were exclusively served a very tasty Romanian lunch in a small town in the middle of the delta. It was an exhausting day but a great experience. Only the departure point is a bit hard to find. It is located approx. 2 km away from the waterfront promenade.

Great tour with amazing guide (Mihail), who knows nearly everything about this area, his expertise covers many areas: from geology, geomorphology, hydrology, botany, zoology, ecology and environment protection to history, people and also myths and legends about Danube delta. He adjusted his explanation to our group (geography, biology and history teachers, graduate in ecology...) so everyone left feeling satisfied and enriched by what they had learned. He knew every bird and plant in latin names - and this was very helpfull, because we were from different not english speaking countries (and some of us studied biology).We saw many species of birds (herons, ducks, cormorants, egrets, and plants. Some of them you can see on my pictures, some of them were unique and different to capture with camera (one species of gull). other are typical for this area - huge flocks of pelicans with pygmy cormorants - to see their feeding cooperation was amazing!We ordered also the lunch in Letea village for 100 lei. It was delicious, especially the soup from catfish.Be aware that the boats of this company are open - it´s because you don´t have any obstacles to see the birds. But be prepared for every kind of weather (sun, heat, wind and cold, rain...). You can enjoy when you are well prepared. The company will send you information before about how you have to be prepared, follow these instructions.

The tour guide had extensive knowledge of ornithology, botany, and mythology. He was able to answer our questions and more. The boat captain was also top-notch. He knows the delta, it is his home, and he steers the boat safely. We saw many birds and also the wild horses. The traditional food in the delta was served by friendly locals and it tasted good. It was a wonderful day and we will recommend this excursion.

An excellent day on the delta. Florin was a very knowledgeable guide. The Delta was spectacular and seeing Letea forest was special.

I recently availed the photo tour and was extremely happy with the arrangement. The stay at a comfortable cottage with delicious home made food , the planned boat trips and the sightings which helped us to shoot photos seamlessly. Last but not the least our guide ILI was best. His knowledge about the area, quiet channels and about availability of bird species , their sound and his sharp eyes to spot the birds was excellent. Thank you Ili , Calina and all others for the great arrangement and service.

This was a fabulous tour. We saw so many different birds, animals and habitats in the Delta. Our guide was very knowledgeable about birds and the Delta in general. He had a really nice way of telling us things.Don't miss it!

We really enjoyed the experience of visiting the Letea Forest and going through a good part of the Danube Delta. Enjoy the sighting of different species of birds that inhabit it. We also had a guide (Florín), who was an ornithologist and has been explaining everything in detail, so we were very lucky.

The boat tour was worth every penny! We could have saved the guided tour through the forest. The guid was competent and had already 20 years of Danube experience!

I think this is the best company in the city because; they have open boat which is very important to see the birds and feel the atmosphere, the journey is long with 12 hours trip 6-7 hours in the boat and 5-6 hours on the land by car. The staff specially "Serghei" was excellent. Nice lunch with big portions at the village. I liked mostly the boat trip, If you have short time then take only the route by boat, not car. Binoculars must you have, you can buy many things from the shop before start therefore you don´t need to by worry at all. The boat starts at 8:00 and back at 20:00. Important to answer the quastions right when you buy the tickets, The trip with car is not suitable for older people and if you have problem in your back, if you must pee more often then you have think twice. Otherwise very nice to see all these birds from up close. Guid talks both english and romanian. Thanks Serghei and others.

Great tour, great guide and captain, a true experience. We saw many animals, the day flew by

This tour was just what I wanted. A boat ride through the delta area, a chance to see birds, and the wild horses. Lunch was local fish, fixed in a variety of ways with accompaniments. I recommend this tour.

It was a wonderful day on the Danube Delta. Billy and his son Alex told us a lot about the birdlife, the delta and the big changes that are going on. It was a great experience. Thanks a lot.

Environment beautiful, explanation in english good . Was just too long 10 hours total. Safari in jeep was not necessary. Open boat was lovely with hat on against the sun, because there was no roof on it you could see all the birds of prey etc in the sky and trees.

Lovely 11 hour trip with a very skilled guide. He spotted every bird and told is all stories about the history of the place. In Letea we saw the beautiful wild horses and trees. We got a lesson in biology and plantology. The lunch was impeccable and the dessert was to die for. The trip back took us on a different route. Despite of the cold we enjoyed the route. Overall a trip we wouldn't want to have missed and we recommend everybody to plan this in their vacation to Tulcea.
