Top Port Douglas Rail Tours

My son and I really enjoyed this trip despite heavy rain through the day. Clear communication pre trip as the weather was a concern. Easy pick up from our Port Douglas hotel to meet Chris our driver and Boson his doggo sidekick! Drive to Cairns where we picked up the Skyrail. Tickets and logistics all arranged by Chris seamlessly. The heavy rain reduced the visibility sadly - and the walking guides at the stations up. The app guide is really good. Kuranda is nothing much more than a village catering to tourists - not somewhere to spend any amount of time. The main event for us did not disappoint. A 90 minute wind down to the valley below is stunning. A beautiful train and a great piece of engineering. We never tired at the views - waterfalls and rock tunnels - and as we were the last carriage - amazing views of the long train curving ahead of us. Beautiful wooden interiors. My adult son is a train fan and we both loved it. It even stopped raining!Chris and Boson met us again and with a brief drink stop it was the disco bus back to PD via drop offs. As a small minibus group that was painless.A huge thanks to all the team - would thoroughly recommend!

It was a great day - very well organized. Kuranda Train Ride, Skyrail and the butterfly sanctuary were part of the program. Andrea shared a lot of information and told stories during the drive. Highly recommended.

We loved the Gold Class Scenic Railway, the steward was very funny and interactive, plus scenery was beautiful. Service and food great, really worth paying the extra $$. Bit of a rainy day, put it is the tropics 😅 Sky rail being serviced so couldn't do that part but price was adjusted to reflect this.

This was an unforgettable experience. We travelled up to Kuranda by train and came back on sky rail. Fantastic day out thoroughly enjoyed the train ride but coming back on sky rail was excellent. Good opportunities to stop and take photos. Highly recommended.

great way to see the rainforest and learn about local history. See the forest and town by rail and then we took the skyway down through the rain forest seeing from above and learning about rain forest ecosystem, plants and animals. Stopped at the water fall which was massive due to rain and run off over the dam at the top of the river

We are an older couple and the Kuranda Train and Cable Car went perfectly. Peter is truly a huge asset to the company. He is also a terrific and safe driver - Thankyou! We had the best day! 🦋👏🏝️🚃

Pick up went without a hitch, the history of how the train line was built so many years ago blew my mind . Skyraile was amazing, the views beautiful

Great hotel pickup and drop-off . Port douglas is about an hour from the train and gondola locations. The train ride is spectacular. Great views. Recorded commentary was helpful. We took the gondola ride back down. Again spectacular. You ride in an enclosed car above the forest canopy. If you're afraid of hights this may not be for you. The town of Kuranda is a giant tourist trap selling lots of cheap souvenirs. You can find some authentic original art if you try a bit. The food along here is mostly awful again geared towards tourists. There are 3 sanctuaries worth visiting. Sadly there was a group of aboriginal people hanging out on a corner getting drunk. I still recommend this activity for the train and gondola rides and sanctuaries.

Long day out, but well worth it. Railway beautiful ride, Kuranda lovely town to wander round and Skyrail back, amazing views. We went to the Koala sanctuary and saw all the animals we hadn't seen during our trip to Australia.

A brilliant day out with Chris as the perfect driver/tour guide. He made everything so easy for us and so interesting. All activities were great- well worth every penny. Highly recommend

What a great day . Chris was full of local knowledge. It was an on the go day and lots of fun. Thanks Chris we will remember that bus ride home up the coast in the evening …jokers to the left , jokers to the right, stuck in the middle with you.🌞

This was a great way to see the vast beauty of the rainforest from the trainline that cuts through the mountainside and along the River and waterfalls and ends in the beautiful Kuranda. You'll then have about 4 hours to eat and shop and meet the lovely locals before hopping on the skyrail to enjoy the view from above. I definitely recommend allowing time to hop off at both stops before getting back to base as you will be able to see the massive waterfall up close and catch the refreshing mist it creates as well as a guided tour at the next stop. It's a big day (we got picked up at 8am and we didn't get back to the hotel until just after 6pm) so definitely hydrate, get refreshments at the station before boarding and have a good night's sleep beforehand and make sure you take a had and/or sunscreen.

Andrea was a fabulous and knowledgeable guide that we enjoyed spending our day with. Arrangements were as communicated and she ensured we were informed at all times. Thanks Andrea for a great day.

A superb day despite the weather. The guide, Pete, knew so much about the area and provided good instructions for pickup times and places. There was good commentary on the train too. Lots to do in Karanda but would have liked more time there. Train was late arriving at Freshwater station. Pleased to be able to enjoy the Skyway.

Great trip certainly worth it. Nice views Download the app as it provides commentary on the sky rail. Definitely pay the bit extra for gold class on the train. Great food good wine and beverages. Excellent staff interaction

The whole experience from the cable car to the train ride back was really cool. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the activities at Kuranda Village but they ended up being the highlight. I ended up going to the Koala, Bird and Butterfly experiences and enjoyed all three. The pictures and videos here will be among the best highlights of my trip of which there are many. Don’t hesitate to book this, the views alone are worth it!
