Top Montenegro Multi-day Tours

Danjela is the best guide ever! She is incredibly efficient, intelligent, cultured, very kind, and a good listener. She is an exceptional person. She just made our vacation wonderful and unforgettable, and we are very grateful to her.

Nino, the owner, designed the perfect private 5 day tour of Montenegro for us. He cleverly suggested we tour Kotor area on our own which reduced costs. He knows so many people in Montenegro that we visited the major national parks and dropped by inique Ecolodge, canyoning place, horseback riding place, 1 km long xip line, etc. so we learned how folks live in country which is why we travel. He designed a program taking us to the major sites. He designs too hiking trips, jeep tours et al. This is the travel agent to choose.

Our guide, Vado, was absolutely exceptional! He led us through charming little villages nestled on our way, a real immersion in the soul of the country. The wonder continued with the Black Lake and the must-see souvenir photos atop the impressive Tara Bridge. Vado has also enriched our experience by showing us two monasteries imprinted. I highly recommend this complete expedition to the heart of Montenegro’s treasures: the magnificent Durmitor National Park, the sublime Black Lake, the peaceful monasteries, the iconic Tara Bridge and the breathtaking mountain landscapes that surround Durmitor.

We had a fantastic tour with Ace Adventure, comparable and better than tours we did with Backroads in the Dolomites and Switzerland in previous years. Misa was great with communication and customizing the tour for our family of five with teenagers, combining cycling with additional days of hiking and even a day of rafting on the Tara. Our guides David and Boban made sure we had an amazing time. They knew the routes and areas well, and with the support van and two ebikes, were able to tailor the riding to the right level for our individual abilities, and adapt well to an unforeseen road closure. When my wife was interested in spending a bit more time on history, they were able to add a small detour to Cetinje. The accommodations were not super luxurious, which fit our goals well since we prefer to be active and end up spending little time in the hotels. The food was fantastic throughout though! The custom riding jersey from the trip is now the favorite in our arsenal. All in all this was one of the best adventure vacations we had!

Montenegro was a lovely surprise, and this guide made our trip even better. It explained the culture and history of Kotor in a fun way, so I read it many times and will read it again when I’m home.It felt like we had a local friend with us. The guide gave us great tips on what to see, and we could easily ask for more advice and help.P.S. Thanks for the music playlist, this was something totally unexpected

This tour met all my expectations and even exceeded some. Nino was a great guide and has a real passion for nature and his country history. I am 75 and was a bit concerned that I would not be able to complete some of the hikes I had requested, but Nino and his colleagues helped me through the difficult sections. He seemed to know people everywhere we went and I really enjoyed his company. Nino helped me plan a cicular tour of Montenegro including the full Durmitor Ring, Tara Canyon, Savin Tuk, Biogradska Gora National Park, Bjelasica Mountain, Moraca Monastery and canyon, Kapetanovo Lake, Mount Sinjavevina, Komovi mountain and nature park, Semolj Pass, Grabaje Valley, a hike up Mount Volusnica, Circle of Korita, the fabulous view at Grio Sokolovo, Mrtvica Canyon and much more. Had a great time.

My Montenegro trip turned out to be a very memorable journey, despite being a last-minute decision. I decided to take help from Montemare travel, and right from the start, they were very responsive. After I spoke with Milica over the phone, I  felt at ease and trusted them to provide a custom tour itinerary to match my interests. I was also mentioned that the itinerary was flexible and I was able to customize it along the way by adding/removing spots as per my interests and changing weather. Milica also accompanied to receive me from the airport. Bojan, also my guide, was a gem of a person, very knowledgeable and he drove me to all the beautiful spots and ensured that I was comfortable during the tours. I'm grateful for the wonderful recommendations for trying delicious authentic vegetarian dishes during the tours and for capturing beautiful memories. Fortunately, the weather was sunny or favorable on most days, except for the day we headed to Zabljak, when we encountered a huge thunderstorm. Still managed to visit Ostrog Monastery amidst heavy rains!!! By the time we reached Black Lake, the weather had mostly cleared, and hence was able to enjoy its beauty. Given the limited time I had, I decided to allow them to book hotels for my stay, although I also had the option to book them on my own, which seemed like a good alternative. My personal favorites of the trip were Kotor, Perast, Stari Bar, Lovcen national park, Black lake, Lipa cave and Cetinje. Only thing was I had to cut short my trip by a day due to limited time. Although, hoping to visit Montenegro sometime again in the future.

The tour was very beautiful. 1 hour in atv is exactly what is needed. The guide was very nice and kind

I had a great time on this tour that shows the beauties of northern Montenegro and southwest Serbia. Rural households that are preparing delicious homemade food, stunning nature and outdoor activities and kind hosts! A great opportunity for families and active travellers/

Monte Mare is a very reliable company. From the start, they were very responsive. Milica, its Marketing and Sales Director who also is the owner of the company with his husband was super helpful in customizing my tour. She was always flexible to any requests and last-minute changes to suit my preference. I especially was thankful for her for agreeing for me to pay at the airport instead of bank transfer which was a complicated task for me. I also specifically asked not to include a professional guide as I only enjoy road trips and nature photography. Bojan, her nephew who also works with the company offer to drive me around. He was very informative - I learned so much stuff I would not learn from a guide. He showed me firsthand Montenegro culture and made me understand its history in an entertaining way. On our last day, Milica and her husband drove me around the national lake where we took the boat trip. They were both super accommodating and treated me like their own guest instead of their client. They also took very nice photos of my trip which they shared with me at the end. I recommend this family-owned company especially if you want a tailor-made trip to Montenegro. Super reliable, fast, accommodating, and first-class service.

Mladen gave us the best guide experience ever. He spoke English very well so was easily understood, extremely knowledgeable of his beautiful country, very flexible as needed, comfortable to be with and we felt we saw everything we wanted to see. Montenegro is definitely worth visiting. Thank you, Mladen!

Another great tour, this time in Montenegro. Company was excellent. Could not fault the organisation. Saw lots and some great walks.

I have just returned from an eight-day ACE tour booked through Headwater that took in three national parks and the Adriatic Coast. We flew to Dubrovnik where we were met and taken on mountain roads to Zabljak, a ski resort. The hotel lacks lifts but was comfortable and centrally located near the supermarket and restaurants where we dined. On our first day of hiking we visited the Durmitor National Park where we saw the glacial Black Lake before enjoying a memorable group picnic by Snake Lake with local produce and wine to celebrate a member’s birthday. The national parks have rare virgin forest. Often when walking you are joined by well behaved unleashed dogs. We also saw goats, sheep, butterflies and wild flowers. Our guide Danijela spotted a baby snake and blue beetles. She also pointed out rose hips, pomegranates and enabled us to taste local blueberries.Unfortunately it rained on our second day but our itinerary was adjusted so that we didn’t get too wet yet enjoyed some local sights such as Eye Lake. The weather spoilt the panoramic view but Danijela showed us pictures from a previous visit and was always armed with maps to help explain the geography and history of the country and Yugoslavia (southern Slavs) more generally. It was very educational.Danijela was always familiar with the countryside and able to adapt the routes for our group. Sometimes we veered off the beaten track and really felt we were experiencing something special. There were uphill climbs and rocky terrain but we were unhurried and could progress safely. Our third night was at the Hotel Bianca, Kolasin, a beautifully designed ski lodge with a warm wooden interior and an amazing swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. We passed through the capital city of Podgorica on our way to the Mausoleum of Prince Bishop Petar II. A hot day and altitude made it a challenging climb but the 360-degree view was worth it. After lunch we hiked down to our minibus, waiting to take us on the serpentine road with its breathtaking views of Kotor and the Adriatic Coast to Perast, our base for four nights.Perast is largely pedestrianised and accommodation at the Conte spread out. The town has a Venetian feel with its waterfront terraces and churches. We swam in the sea and were able to view fish and the boats coming and going in the harbour area.On the one day with no cruise liners in port we took a boat to the nearby island of Our Lady of the Rocks before carrying on to Kotor. Here we climbed about 1,300 steps from the River Gate to St John Fort before returning to the town with its cathedral, city walls, market, cafes, shops, museum and plentiful cats.Next day we visited Godinje for a home made cheese, prosciutto and wine lunch at a fourteenth-generation family vineyard. Afterwards we descended to Lake Skadar, the largest Balkan lake. From our ‘Pelican’ boat we spotted kingfishers and yellow heron, as well as water chestnuts and water lilies. The boat stopped for us to swim mid lake with the mountains of Albania visible in the distance. Our last hike was on the Vrmac peninsula with its outstanding views of Kotor and Porto Montenegro bringing our walking holiday to a pleasant conclusion.

I was really looking forward to this tour having never been to this part of the world. The tour was brilliant, very well organised and never a dull moment. Our guide, Danijela, was so knowledgeable, professional and kind. The accommodation was fine (no lifts so keep that in mind with luggage) and the food plentiful. The walks were tiring but so worth it! We had a ‘day off’ visiting a beautiful monastery, wine tasting and swimming in Lake Skadar 👌 Memories that I’ll cherish ❤️ Definitely recommend 👍

I can’t thank you and your team enough for the trip of a lifetime- i didn’t quite know what to expect, but this tour went beyond my wildest dreams and I will never forget this beautiful adventure through the peaks of the Balkans. The tour, which was so meticulously planned, wouldnt have been the same without our incredible tour guide, Arianit, who made the full experience so personalized and memorable, and full of fun, joy, laughter and excitement. I hope to do another tour with you in the future!

A family tour which allows you to discover different Montenegrin regions, a very good program, varied sporting activities, perfect organization and an exceptional guide!
