Claudio was a wonderful guide from the onset of our booking! He wrote to us and asked that we contact him (he gave his WhatsApp number) before we made any train plans so he could make sure we’d arrive in a timely fashion. When the time came for making those reservations, I reached out to him and he promptly responded with incredibly detailed, helpful instructions. The day of the tour, our small group (only 8 people!) was treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Claudio’s family’s Parmigiana farm/factory. We learned about and observed every step of the process, and when it was over, we enjoyed a delicious tasting of the three ages of cheese they create and sell. The fun continued after a short drive to another beautiful family location where they produce balsamic vinegar. I felt like I was in an enchanted place as Claudio deftly drew us in to the love and care and patience for the process. And after another tasting experience at this location, it did seem like something truly magical must occur to create such a delicious vinegar. We were given the opportunity after each of the tastings to purchase various items, but there was absolutely no pressure. Some members of our group did and some did not without any awkwardness or discomfort. After driving us back to the train station, we said our goodbyes to our small group (who now felt like friends) and to Claudio, one of the most passionate, interesting and kind tour guides we’ve ever known.

Fantastic.It gave me goosebumps bumps that Pavorite passed away on this place. Incredible tribute to him. We also appreciate the front office, the care takers. They were so happy to see us coming from USA, ordered Taxi for us. It is a long way from downtown coming 28 Eur. It was a pleasant surprise and worth every mile.

Fabulous Day, Fantastic Guide, Incomparable Introduction to Iconic Italian Foods
Claudio is a warm, knowledgeable, and persuasive guide to all things Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Parma ham and salami, and authentic Balsamic. We began our tour with cappuccino and pastries. He kindly arranged for gluten- free cookies and cakes for me. Then we toured the cheese-making facility. An incredible amount of work, mostly done by skilled cheesemakers, occurs to make the Parmigiano-Reggiano, including months of aging. After a visit to meet the cows that supply the milk, we returned for a light lunch of savory spinach pie (gluten-free bread for me), salami and ham, three different aged Parmigiano-Reggiano to try ( everyone had a different favorite) and dry, sparkling Lambrusco wine. The final portion of the tour was of a Balsamic Aceteria where some of the oldest batteries of casks (a traditional system for aging the vinegar) were 300-400 years old. Then we sampled 8-, 12-, and 25-year-old Balsamic with a tasting spoon, and then had a drizzle of the gold Balsamic over crema gelato. It was a lovely day in the countryside with a host who is rightfully proud of his regional culinary specialties. Highly recommended.

This guide was amazing! The experiences at all the different locations was great. I wish I had read the text beforehand as you needed to book and pay an admission fee for some of the places. The tour took me around 2 hours but that was without going into the different paid experiences. The area was pretty quiet with minimal crowds, which made it easy to look around freely! The tour is best people that want to learn more about Modena and want to see all the best places without just wondering around! My husband went to the Ferrari museum so this tour was ideal for me to go a look around and it’s the tour took help me!

This was a great way to visit some local producers of regional specialties. Alessandro was a great guide and very friendly. First we toured the Parmesano Reggio factory, saw it being made, and tasted 3 ages. Then we visited a small balsamic producer and the owner did a guided tasting with us. Finally we went to a small family vineyard and did a wine tasting with the owner. It was the perfect way to immerse yourself in the region. Alessandro gave just a great recommendation for lunch afterward too.
