Omar is a knowledgeable and friendly guide who will share his expertise in the city, geology, and ecology, and if you’re lucky he’ll show you his favorite reggaeton songs on the way back. Transportation was seamless and the hike was just the right amount of challenging. Altitude is no joke, so pace yourself. Your feet will get wet towards the end, so take his advice and bring a change of shoes and socks. Highly recommend!

A fantastic hiking trip! I was by myself so Luis made sure to tailor the hike to what I was able to do/wanted. We extended the hike to 15km and took all different paths on and off the main paths so I got the proper hiking experience. Luis was very friendly and created a very comfortable environment throughout the day.

Fabulous time hiking both La Malinche and Iztaccihutal with Cristino. Great guide, super flexible with dates and well organised. I had a wonderful time hiking some beautiful mountains.

The company was always very quick to respond to all my questions, and helped me with everything I needed: additional gear, a pick up from Puebla, and flexibility for my friend who didn’t know if she’d be able to hike after the acclimatisation night. Our guide, Chris, was the best we could have wished for: knowledgable, friendly, and funny. He knows lots about the history of Mexico and is happy to share all his knowledge with you.

Great Experience, Excellent Guide and Personalized Attention ‐, from the beginning you get all the help you need from the NATO Experiences staff, either for clarifications or in general, which is really appreciated, once in the activity the whole itinerary operates in time and form, but they are still quite Flexible yes it is what is needed, the guide what Armando touched us was more than prepared and willing to help us throughout the trip with a great attitude, everything was Wonderful and we were able to reach the Heaven Gate without setbacks, certainly an experience that we would repeat again

Couldn't recommend Yacana Outdoors more! These guys were very professional, super prepared, and delivered a memorable experience. I didn't reach the summit due to altitude sickness and some tough conditions, but I'd still use this group again if I return for a second attempt.The guide had summited Denali, Aconcagua, and a number of other prominent peaks. The car pickup in Mexico City went smoothly. We had a great breakfast at a climbers hostel about 75 minutes from base camp. Cristino had all the necessary gear, gave a quick tutorial on crampons (my first time using them) and was generally a pleasure to be around.The base camp is about what you would expect. Sad to see so much trash floating around, but the hut was an adequate shelter from the elements outside. We went on a 45-minute acclimatization hike upon arrival then relaxed and tried to get as much sleep as possible before waking up at 11pm for a summit attempt beginning at midnight.The route we took was fairly mundane for the first ~2 hours. Easy pace. Largely stable footing over rocks and hard-packed dirt. The attempt became much more difficult with about ~2,400 feet elevation to go. We climbed through sand for about 1,000 feet before reaching ice with ~1,400 feet to go. I made it about 400 feet further. Our guide recommended turning back on account of the large amount of black ice in our route. Altitude sickness had set in for me at this point, and I took the recommendation/encouraged us to head down. Gutted to get that close and turn back, but I was honestly pretty cooked at this point. Cristino tried to convince me that we could still reach the top, but I ultimately called it off.10/10 recommend giving this trip a go, but make sure you're extremely fit, have summited a 14er (at minimum) or two, have the appropriate attire as recommended by the guide service, and acclimatize as needed. I think I would have been better off committing more time to proper acclimatization - that's on me, not the guide service. Appreciate the vibes and memories, Yacana + Cristino!

It was an excellent trekking that I enjoyed a lot, it does not require much effort so you can calmly enjoy the landscape, to add a little more excitement we hired the rappelling and it was great, our guide Armando seemed very prepared and had mastery of the subject to guarantee our security; Our other guide Omar, also excellent and made the walk very enjoyable, included a very delicious snack and took some incredible photos. I would hire experiences with the Nato team again, everything is very professional including the security team, the plus, the good vibes and encouragement of the guides!!

This hike was such a great experience start to finish. I was a little nervous going into it as a solo female traveler going hiking in Mexico for the first time, but rest assured this experience is so safe, so well planned, and so fun! A bit strenuous with the initial ascend, but the views are incredible and the lush greenery is such a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city. Omar is a geologist who knows so much about the area and gives a lot of fun facts about the city’s environment, geology (of course) and history. I love that he pointed out so many mushrooms and distinguished the poisonous from the non! The ladder portion was my favorite - it looks intimidating at first, but it’s easy once you figure it out and is such a unique experience. Highly recommend!! Wear good shoes too, especially in the rainy season!
